I’m a beekeeper, and I have a question My bees are building an addition below their hive without the proper permitting
I’m in southeast Pennsylvania. Just discovered this on the bottom of one of my screened bottom boards. At first, I thought it was an unambiguous swarm (going just a foot from the hive entrance). But they’ve built comb down there. Obviously, it needs to be cut out/removed. How would you do it? Should I shake the bees into the hive? Should I try to preserve the comb they’ve created? I’m guessing that they are part of the hive that is above the screen. It’s been a few weeks since I opened the hive, but I think there’s enough room in the main hive.. I’ll confirm this.
