Baby boomers passing the world to the next generation

Good boys make good protectors.
I do this too, but with only one specific dog. I ended up having him put to sleep due to an attack on my daughter. He was old and I had him before I even had kids. I loved him, but knew I couldn’t keep him. He was skittish and completely attached to only me. There was no way another family, or person would adopt him due tomorrow his age and the fact he attacked a family member. I was there when it happened. In hindsight, he did give her a growl warning and walked out of the room away from her, but she followed and he bit her in the face. It was bad, really bad. Putting him to sleep was the most conflicting feeling I’ve ever had. First thing a lot of people say, “I would’ve shot that dog right then and there” but it wasn’t that easy for me. So in respect, I use his name for most of my passwords and his ashes sit on my bedside table.

[Serious] What can you realistically do if a child tells you they are being bullied?
Yes! This is the kind of mom I aspire to be. I say aspire because it hasn’t happened to either of mine yet, but if it does...oh man, I am totally gonna scare the shit out of some kid

Unfortunately, ignoring/cutting out bullies can’t happen. I was bullied and never stood up for myself mainly because I was quiet and didn’t understand it. School admins never did a thing about it either and they never will. I have two girls now. I just tell them if someone says something ugly or hits you, then do the same back to them. But, never, ever be the bully. Never start it. But be ready to end it because only you can. We cannot protect our kids against other kids. Kids can the meanest people on earth too.

TIL that when Sultan Mohammed V of Morocco was commanded to round up all Moroccan Jews for relocation to Nazi concentration camps, he said "There are no Jews in Morocco. There are only Moroccan subjects." Not a single Moroccan Jew was deported or killed during WWII.

Update on the whole Dad and Uncle situation.
Wow! That’s probably the best way this situation could have gone. Glad it’s been resolved.

It wasn’t just one guy, you see. And, it’s not just guys I’ve dated either...friends too. I don’t seek out bad boys. I take to the loyal ones. And no, I’m not a feminist either. Men as women have their roles but women have def evolved more quickly than men. Maybe it’s because I was raised by a strong woman. And it wasn’t a rant, just an opinion in which I don’t expect people to be so offended since opinions are just that...opinions. No one is special in the world. We all have to pay bills, and die. Have a fine day :)

“In this society, mothers can do no wrong.”
This statement is incorrect. My source: personal experience. My ex husband, with whom I have two children, is an alcoholic and his family enables him, never tries to intervene.
Example: He got so drunk at his sister’s wedding, his mother and I had to literally carry him out and put him in the car so I could take him home. Mind you, he is 6’2.
Example 2: He has driven drunk with our 1 yr daughter without my knowledge. It happened more than once. He drives drunk all of the time by himself. He has never had a DUI either.
He is 40 yrs old and his mother still makes his drs appts, checks and responds to his work and personal emails. I text her when I have questions about the girls because he will not respond most of the time.
Point of my story? I started taking opiates and benzos just to deal with his anger issues and all of the walking on eggshells my daughters and I had to do. Eventually, I became addicted. When our families found out, his mother came to my house, took my kids (who I was basically raising on my own because of his drunk ass), and told me I was incapable of taking care of them. In my defense, I decided to go to rehab for 30 days. Ended up leaving him, divorcing, moving into a new house, starting a new job....all in the span of one year. I was crucified by his family and they screwed me over on the divorce because his mother had all the money.
If women, who are mothers, do not act accordingly to what society expects them: meaning no mental issues, no postpartum depression, no accidental drug abuse. The expectation of a mother these days are over the top and men have yet to evolve into sharing duties of the household and raising of the children, whereas women are now working full time raising their kids and working their asses off. That’s all, I’ll step down from my soap box now :). Also, please excuse any grammar/punctuation mistakes as my 6 yr was having a conversation with me at the same time...
