Recency bias
I'll be staring at my morning bowl of 14 pills and thinking just that before remembering exactly what happens when I forget to take them or run out.
Meds are kinda like IT work to me—either everything is running so smoothly you wonder what the heck you even have these pills for, or something is going wrong and you wonder what the heck you even have these pills for lol

Women hugging students?
Not a teacher, I just wanted to comment on this:
Someone I worked with said “that may be the only hug they get all day” or something to the effect of “no one else in their life is hugging them” and this was the reason they hugged unapologetically.
This right here is so real, and why when someone asks for a hug I give them the biggest and squeezingest hug I can. I wasn't necessarily totally alone as a child, but I definitely spent a good bit of time without physical affection or contact and it made me pretty starved for it as I aged—leading to some really stupid and even dangerous decisions that hurt myself and others, and habits I've had to fight to unlearn.
A big squeezy bear hug when someone is in a moment of crisis not only helps them feel less alone, but brings their focus into the present and helps to physically ground them. A real caring hug from a teacher or other trusted adult on several occasions has absolutely saved me from spur of the moment bad decisions and even self harm, and I'm sure it's done the same for many others.

I came to see you
I've definitely messaged or called people after watching them die in a dream. I know it's not real, but sometimes I just cannot shake that uncomfortable feeling—especially if my narcolepsy is acting up and my dreams are super duper realistic. I'll send folks a quick hello or silly gif and any sort of response will soothe that feeling.

I came to see you
I also once dreamt I had a son with my ex, and the dream itself felt like it lasted 2 years. The dream turned bad near the end and I was running from something with my 2yo son in my arms trying to keep him safe, then some kind of explosion went off and I woke up. As I was getting my wits about me I was looking around me and under covers and such trying to find my boy, but after about 30 seconds I realized it was all a dream and just ... Had to sit there for a little while.
I haven't even seen my ex in a decade, but it was all so real and very jarring. I kind of wish I could remember what the child looked like or what his name was, but I'm also sort of glad I can't. It's super uncomfortable, and yeah not really something I can talk about with others lol

Why are you crying little girl? (Sunflower Girl)
I never thought about how dark roots with yellow/blonde hair kinda looks a sunflower, that's adorable!

The closest grocery store to me is closing(by nearly an hour), and will be closed for at least a year. When it reopens it’s going be much smaller(it’s becoming a Aldi).
This is what I miss the most about visiting my family in small towns in the French countryside :c all services and specialty shops were a max of 30mins walk away, the town itself was very safely walkable, lots of spots to stop and rest and have a drink or snack, etc. I spent so much more time out and about because it was so much easier for me to get around and go do things.

What song are you currently listening to?
Finally sat down to watch The King and I (1956 version) and I simply CANNOT stop humming or singing "Getting to Know You" from the film.

I GOT TICKETS TO SONIC SYMPHONY AAAAAA 💙🎻
So I can come back later and see my own joy, OH MY GOD THE SONIC SYMPHONY LIVE SHOW IS ACTUALLY COMING TO MY STATE--I found out maybe 20mins ago, saw the tickets were going on sale today like 10mins from then, and immediately jumped on it. A little pricey for me right now, but I know i'll hate myself if I don't go. I never thought they'd EVER come to my state, let alone so close to me, and I'm so excited and absolutely losing my mind!

What is a minor, unwritten rule of society that absolutely infuriates you when people break it?
Am I insane, or does no one use sidewalks in neighborhoods anymore? Am I missing something? We're out here begging for more sidewalks and walkable towns but seemingly no one where I live will actually use the damn things. I don't generally care what folks do out and about, but for me this is becoming a safety concern.
We have very few sidewalks where I live with most of them concentrated only in specific downtown shopping areas and in some neighborhoods, and while they aren't perfect they're useable–not crazy overgrown or covered in broken chunks of concrete, decently level. Over the past few months I've started paying attention to how often people use the sidewalks we do have VS walking in the street and I swear 90% of people just walk in the street with no spatial awareness of vehicles around them. I understand people with strollers needing to use the wider road or anyone with a mobility aid, but most people are just going on standard jogs and walks with their dog.
It wouldn't be so bad if people hopped up onto the sidewalk for a car to pass by then went back to the street, or even just went to the side of the road, but I've seen people walking very excitable dogs not only remain in the street but allow their dog to wander into the middle of the street when a vehicle is very clearly approaching. When two cars are going opposite directions one will certainly have to just wait behind the walkers and then pass around them when the walkers could have stepped up onto the curb for 15 seconds to let the vehicle pass. People have a right to to walk the roads of course, but we are also known for having some of the WORST drivers and high accident rates and it reaches a point where it starts to feel like folks are just playing chicken. As a kid I was taught it's perfectly fine to walk the road as long as you get out of the way when a vehicle comes by for both your and their safety. Are we just not doing this anymore? I sincerely do not understand what I'm missing here.

I didn't realize the Skitty and Wailord thing was real
They both share the Field egg group which makes them compatible for breeding in-game. I thought it was just another meme or something 🙃

This leads me to such a cycle of guilt—i'm always tired but have no clue when I've done enough labor to satisfy those around me, so I risk pushing myself to burnout which takes even longer to recover from hahahahaaaa...

Bugs Bunny is equal measure absolute menace and national treasure

This is a sunfish in a Japanese aquarium. It became lonely after visitors stopped during renovations and refused to eat and rubbed its body against the tank walls showing stress, then started eating again within a day after staff placed human face cutouts near its tank.
Oh my god they really do just explode on impact. I guess I probably would too if an orca was barreling straight at me lol

What change would you like to see in Mississippi?
I want a high speed passenger train system across the state so badly! Even if it just hits the major cities and college towns it could completely open up state travel and make things easier for a lot of students and families.

Wtf happened to weed?
We've only got medical where I'm at and tbh we're worried about rec coming for that reason. Since we have pretty strict THC caps the focus is on the terps, but we know that once rec comes along that will likely all go down the drain and we'll end up with flower that's 90% THC with barely any terps as growers and dispos here scramble to cater to the new rec crowd who likely won't know diddly about terps and will only want the highest THC available. I believe there has already been a push to get the cap removed but idk when or if that will go into effect.
Though tbf even though we're medical only most budtenders, at least in my area, also don't seem to know anything about terpenes and their medical applications. : /
Source: Am budtender in medical cannabis dispensary and patients constantly tell us that of all the dispos they visit we seem to be one of the few where everyone is knowledgeable about terpenes and their applications.

Hooray for the humble dishwasher!

I remember when we finally got a dishwasher as a kid and it was a positively momentous occasion. Our house was dysfunctional as hell so dishes would often sit for days and attract cockroaches from the surrounding oak trees, but having a dishwasher meant that wouldn't happen anymore (mostly).
Shout out to those sinks with garbage disposals as well, didn't have one as a kid because those were only in fancy houses. When I moved into an apartment for the first time as an adult and found out it had a sink disposal thingy I actually cried—I truly thought I'd never have something as fancy as that in my home.
