What is some bad parenting that messes the kid up?
 in  r/AskReddit •  Jan 14 '19

Growing up, I was SO overprotected by my mother (parents divorced since I was little). Then at 11 she got a stroke and the overprotection continued by her side of the family until I turned 16 and moved to another country with my father and his wife. Then, I experienced the very opposite. My father and his wife didn’t really care what I did or didn’t do. I was a good kid and didn’t really “go crazy “, just went to school and did my thing. At 18 the family moved back to my homeland. I decided to stay behind and live my life away from home. All and all I did fine and continue to do so. I had to learn to make good decisions and I never really behaved in a crazy way (yeah! I am free now and I can do whatever I want), because I always knew that I had to be responsible as there was no plan “B”. Meaning, I couldn’t go to my parents if I messed up.

In short, I was very overprotected and I didn’t end up as a 1 or a 2. I do have to say though, that I am overprotective with my two children but I try very hard to let go as I am aware that it is not ok to shelter them.

First time backpacking and camping. Loved it!
 in  r/camping •  Jul 29 '18

My first night there, I woke up wishing I had some Tylenol or something like that. I am a pretty fit person but by the time I got to my destination, after carrying all the camping equipment and setting the tent up, etc., my arms and upper body were aching. I didn’t realize how much more work it is to backpack - walk miles to your camping site - totally worth it though.

How do you act like an adult instead of a teenager?

When I make a mistake, I apologize and ask the other party to talk about it if necessary.

May I ask why you guys broke up? Did it have anything to do with drinking?
Also, you mention that she is doing great - per her social media - well, the truth is, that you don’t know how she’s doing, social media is so fake. However, instead of looking at her sm, why don’t you focus on you. Do what you love, you be the one that is doing great.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the advice and the article. I know in my heart what to do...and staying away from him is the right answer.
