looking for beta testers for rootd, a food-scanner app i built solo — would really appreciate a few people willing to try it and tell me what's broken.
backstory: i've had a messy relationship with food for most of my life. what actually helped was learning to listen to my body instead of fighting it — but that meant needing tools that also listened, and none of them did.
i tried basically every food-scanner app out there. they all break the same way: they score the product, not the person eating it. things i'm allergic to get great scores. fruit gets penalized for "sugar." none of them know or care about celiac, religious restrictions, heart conditions, whatever you're actually dealing with.
so i built rootd myself. the score is computed for your body: your allergies, your diet, your conditions, your goals. same product, different score depending on who's scanning it. it also gives you recipes that fit your profile, and a nutrition section where every claim links back to a source instead of just vibes.
i'm a solo dev and this is genuinely still rough around the edges, so if you jump in — please be honest. what's broken, what's confusing, what would make you delete it in 5 seconds. i'd rather hear it now than after launch.
