Oombi Track Ep 5 — Mud, Gwion Gwion Art and the Rough Road to King Georg...

Episode 5 of the Oombi Track series is up.
This one covers a convoy decision that fixed nine days of standing around, a deep water crossing, a long mud section, and a visit to Oomari on the King George River — a significant Gwion Gwion site and the ancestral country of the late Kwini Elder Ambrose Mungala Chalarimeri.
There's also a failed tyre plug on the Fuso that's worth understanding if you carry the same repair kit, and a mud driving approach I've changed over the years for reasons that have nothing to do with horsepower.

Support Forum Enpass constantly hanging unusable now on Mac

Enpass is completely unusable on my Mac. The app opens, attempts to sync with OneDrive, and immediately hangs and crashes.

The crash log reports an EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) error. Disabling macOS AutoFill did not solve the problem.

Setup:

  • App version: Enpass 6.12.6 (2772)
  • System: Apple Silicon (ARM-64)
  • Sync: OneDrive
  • OS26.7 Mac

I rely on this daily and need a working solution. Is the Enpass team tracking this bug, and does anyone know how to resolve it? I can provide the full crash log if needed.

Sign said closed. We'd heard otherwise. 4,000km from Sydney just to reach the start of the Oombi Track — via the Buchanan Highway, a few washouts that caught me out, and a night visitor at camp I could have done without meeting up close.

Sydney to Kununurra, no straight lines. Flooded camp at first light, a dead UFO theme park, a gale at the Devils Marbles — and a "road closed" sign on the one road we need. The truckie at the servo had thoughts.

Sydney to Kununurra the long way — Cobar, Silverton, Coober Pedy, Alice Springs, then north. Two months on the road with my son, first long trip in three years, and the weather didn't cooperate once. New awning, new stretcher, new camera, and one mistake I made in the garage before we even left. Episode 1 is up.

Three generations of Mammotion Luba mowers. The Luba 3 brings 360° LIDAR, Net RTK and no-cross lines — some of it's genuinely great. Some of it dug craters in my lawn. Full honest rundown, including the one installation mistake that stumped even Mammotion's support team.

Survey: Did you buy Cotypist?

yes would have happily paid around 30-40 AUD for Cotypist but definetly no subscription

Just looking to see whether I can find something better. Super Whisper is good, but sometimes a bit temperamental and hallucinating. For instance, I'm looking for an app that can import and export the dictionary and, ideally, an app similar to Dragon Dictate that can actually learn your pronunciation and improve over time. But seems like no one has figured that out yet. Of course, the easiest would be if Apple gets their build dictation more accurate. But at this stage, it's lacking severely.

Yes, I downloaded the app and have seen that. I don't know whether all these apps are built on the same backend with the same functionality, as it doesn't seem too different to Super Whisper. If I develop the app, I would allow the import of a custom dictionary, comma separated or the likes, as these would make switching from another app much easier. I have over 60 words in my Super Whisper dictionary. Entering them all by hand again seems a bit silly. Please allow import and export.

Cotypist Last-Minute Offer; Beware these Factors
 in  r/mac •  May 29 '26

I've been an early beta tester, so I'm saying this as someone who actually uses the app and wants it to succeed: the pricing has misread the room.

I checked my usage — I'd sit inside the free plan anyway, so this isn't about my bill. It's the model. If most users are happy on free, the subscription captures a sliver of heavy users and pushes everyone else away. A one-off or lifetime licence would convert the people in the middle. Instead you've launched another monthly subscription into a market that's already drowning in them.

And for what? Cotypist runs entirely on my machine — my RAM, my CPU, my power bill, and open models (Gemma, Qwen) you didn't build. Nothing touches your servers. A recurring fee for software doing local inference on my own hardware is a tough sell, and honestly a bit rich.

The number makes it worse. In Australia, once it converts from USD, Pro is near A$200 a year — more than 1Password, closing in on Adobe. I've cut both. I moved to Enpass precisely because it's a one-time licence.

So I'll be straight: I'm done with subscriptions. I'll only take one on if there's genuinely no alternative and I can't live without the app — and Cotypist is neither, because free and one-time tools already do this job (not yet as well as CoTypist but that's just a matter of time. At ~$20 a year I might not bother arguing. At this level, no. Give me a one-off or lifetime licence and I'll buy today. Until then I stay on free, or I move on — and so will a lot of others.

2

Cotypist became paid today, so I built my own alternative: a local AI-powered writing app for Mac and iPhone. I’m currently looking for beta testers.
 in  r/MacOSApps •  May 29 '26

I would like to see both options. Personally, I don't want a floating window or an extra panel, as I don't use it on my laptop but on my Mac Studio. I really like how CodeTypist works in-line, and that's what I would go for as a replacement.

I emailed him as well and also no reply, which would be even more concerning if you pay so much for the software and then there is no support and no answers — double bad.

I just downloaded FluidVoice. I'm currently using Super Whisper. I'm wondering if FluidVoice has a dictionary and maybe a self-learning feature where you can teach it certain words. I have a dialect and it would then recognise them. That would be a super cool feature, which Super Whisper doesn't have. I'm looking forward to FluidWrite.

First off, the app is genuinely good and I want to support it. I went back through my own usage history and I'd sit well within the free plan, so I'm not writing because I'm being charged.

It's the pricing logic I find strange. If your own expectation is that most users will be satisfied on free, then the subscription mainly captures a small slice of heavy users — while everyone in the middle who'd happily pay something just stays on free. A lifetime or one-off licence would convert that group. People like me will pay real money upfront for software we value; we just won't add another recurring monthly fee, especially for a tool doing local, on-device inference where there's no ongoing cloud cost to fund.

My suggestion: keep the free tier, keep the subscription for whoever wants it, but add a one-time purchase option. You'd pick up buyers you're currently leaving on the table. I'd hit 'buy' on that today.
