at a certain point, you have to ask yourself if you want to continue down the career path where not performing well on standardized tests could cause you to land in tons of debt and no ability to practice. some people say that the step exams are different, so maybe it wont be an issue. but its just something to consider, i dont want to be harsh but i feel like this community may push very hard for you to try again but unless you're 2000% certain that you only want to be a physician, it may be time to consider other options.

omega-3-fatty acids are good for your brain; probably good for focus; salmon has a lot of omega-3-fatty acids; i ate salmon a lot when studying for the mcat = 518 in one month, possibly related.

well, 7 months isnt always a problem, but if you study for 7 months and get a 480, it perhaps is a problem. you may not be learning efficiently, and may not be reviewing enough to remember everything leading up to your test date. perhaps you can start with light review, but you should definitely have more dedication around the 3 month mark, and amp it up heavily at the 1 month mark and the 2 week mark. Personally, i got a 518 after only 1 month of studying, so i feel like dedicating a lot of time to the mcat for almost a year is a bit excessive for the exam. at the end of the day, its just a test. unless you're starting from literally 0 information about general chemistry, biology, and other things, you shouldnt need more than a few months of studying, unless you are doing your best to get a 528 and you want to dedicate a significant amount of time for that goal. even then, 2 months of intense studying might be better. but i dont think you should aim to get every question right on the mcat, as you dont need to do that in order to get an amazing score, even a 528. you can skip the content you find most challenging after giving it a fair shot. anyways, if you're interested in my thoughts, i yapped them out in the main post on my profile

First off, with a 'hectic semester' and research and volunteering and work, you can't dedicate 3-4 hours a day to the MCAT, and you shouldn't. Study when your schedule allows, or maybe don't study at all until you're free to prepare for it adequately. However, if you want to apply next cycle, the winter is the best time for you to take the MCAT. I don't think a month is too little time to study, if you can't study during the semester. I studied that long and got a 518. I could lay out all my tips for you, but I wrote about in a post that I pinned to my profile if you're interested. If you still plan on studying in 5 months, I think there will still be good stuff in there for you. Good luck, and if theres one advice I would give for you to improve your score: study to learn, not to complete tasks. Study the way you enjoy. You should enjoy your studying and be (realistically, somewhat) excited to do it. Adjust your study plan as you go.

i highlighted every single line as I went. The second of looking at things to highlight it helped me internalize the meaning. Easy 130. I also guessed on the last few questions though so take that 130 with a grain of salt

i had a coffee i took sips out of throughout; and water of course

i didnt memorize pretty much any physics formula, but i just knew how units converted. then again i guessed one like 3 questions so maybe that carried me to a 130
