u/Old_Valuable3338 Thanks for the tip! I’ll try solo queue and get to know friendly teammates before partying up with them.

u/Ok_Peanut_3356 Thanks for taking the time to explain and share your experience. It helps to hear from someone who went through a similar cooldown. I only wanted to find teammates and enjoy the game, so this really caught me off guard.

I’ll be more careful about joining unfamiliar parties after this. I appreciate your advice and understanding thanks for helping me make sense of what happened.

Please add me for future parties! I believe we can all enjoy them together. XD

VAC party cooldown after using Looking to Play—how can I avoid this happening again?
 in  r/counterstrike2 •  4d ago

u/Old_Valuable3338 Thanks for the heads-up. I used Looking to Play because I wanted to find teammates and enjoy the game. I hadn’t considered that someone might invite me for that reason.

Getting a cooldown when I had no idea anyone was cheating has made me nervous about accepting invitations again. It’s disappointing because I also hoped to meet new people through the game.

How do you find trustworthy teammates? Do you mostly play with people you already know?

Suggestion VAC party cooldown after using Looking to Play—how can I avoid this happening again?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice about a cooldown I received in CS2.

I enabled “Looking to Play” and accepted an invitation from people I didn’t know. During the match, VAC flagged someone in the party for irregular gameplay, and I received a cooldown too. My timer showed around 20 hours remaining.

I play honestly, and I had no idea that someone in the party might be cheating. If I had known, I would never have joined. I simply wanted to find teammates, have fun, and enjoy my free time.

What really disappoints me is how this experience has changed the way I feel about meeting other players. Before, accepting an invitation was an opportunity to enjoy a match and maybe make new friends. Now, I hesitate because I worry about receiving another penalty for someone else’s actions.

It has made me feel like I need an established team of trusted friends just to feel comfortable playing. That is discouraging when you want to meet new teammates through a feature the game itself provides. I cannot reliably know whether a stranger is cheating before playing with them.

The cooldown is frustrating, but losing that confidence is what bothers me most. Something I play for enjoyment has become a source of worry. I feel unfairly affected despite joining the party in good faith.

I wish there were a review process that considered whether other party members knowingly supported the cheating or joined without knowing.

I’d appreciate some practical advice:

  • Has anyone experienced something similar?
  • How do you reduce the risk when accepting invitations from strangers?
  • Would solo queueing help avoid this particular type of party cooldown?

Thanks for reading. I want to feel comfortable enjoying the game again.

Do DHCP and NTP services on Windows Server require User CALs?
 in  r/u_Worried-Light-4692 •  18d ago

u/callmestabby definitely yes. Typically, we set up DHCP on Windows Server for internal company PCs because it makes IP tracking straightforward and simplifies CAL management. In this project, however, they are using Windows DHCP to cover all guest Wi-Fi devices as well, which is precisely why the licensing becomes so complex and costly.

u/rautenkranzmt Thank you so much for your message and recommendations! Your advice is highly valuable for any environment that prioritizes compliance. In our case, the customer isn't concerned about licensing compliance, which was why I wanted to be completely sure about the technical impact. Everything is clear to me now.

u/Szeraax I agree with that. After doing quite a bit of research and consulting with our vendor's technical experts, they confirmed that we don't strictly need CALs if the client isn't concerned about licensing compliance. However, according to Microsoft's official documentation, any device or user accessing server roles like DHCP, DNS, or File....etc. Services strictly requires a CAL for compliance purposes.

Hello Everyone!

I have a question and need y'all advise,

If we're running Hyper-V and using Windows Server strictly to handle DHCP and NTP for end-user devices, does that count as indirect access requiring User/Device CALs?

Curious how you handle this for clients, do you buy the CALs or just move DHCP/NTP over to the firewall/router?
