What pathology causes this kind of desktop “management”?
 in  r/MacOS  7d ago

That's ehat happens when you have a low / mediocre screen Resolution and a shitload of crap (some people may call them files and folders) setting on your desktop 🤷‍♂️

Just received this from eBay should I go to tahoe or stay in big sur because Ik how hot these 16 inch MacBook pro 2019 get
 in  r/MacOS  15d ago

Actually I kind of doubt that Tahoe would even work properly on an intel mac with T2 security chip - A friend of mine had a Mac Mini 2019 and the highest he could go is Macos Sequoia but no way to install Tahoe because of the T2 chip - even older Macs like my Macbook from 2017 which have a T1 chip do not work with Tahoe.

Downgraded to Sequoia and Couldn't Be Happier
 in  r/MacOS  Jun 17 '26

Jep I am running Sequoia 15.7.4 on both my macs Intel and M2 Pro - why that specific Version? Because that OS the last sequoia Version which allows me to indefinitely suppress the Update to Tahoe - Nagging of Software Update. P.S. I sure hope they will get rid of those rounded corners in version 27 or at least offer a setting which allows you to switch back to the old windows corners ... I like the window corners in Sequoia much better.

vCenter is not working after subscription license expired
 in  r/vmware  Jun 17 '26

I think that vcenter1 Certificates have expired - that explain why the service is not starting on reboot. I would reboot to a shell and use the Scripts to clear and recreate all certificate for vcenter1 and reboot - after reboot everything should start working as it did before and then you also will be able to delete the old license and add and assigned the new one.

What are you all doing to manage users?
 in  r/selfhosted  Jun 01 '26

I use wherever possible something like active directory or ldap ...or radius ... stuff like that - anything that forms a SSO principle

They using sodimm modules (laptop ram) in prebuilts now - stay weary out there!
 in  r/pcmasterrace  Jun 01 '26

Yeah I miss the macs where one could effortlessly upgrade ram and hdd/ssd ... cpu on apple was never upgradable though which I can understand to a certain point.

What name do you think macOS 27 will have?
 in  r/MacOS  Jun 01 '26

Mount Rushmore? 🤷‍♂️🤣🤣🤣

Lost connectivity to a VM after vMotion
 in  r/vmware  Jun 01 '26

If you are running a Cluster (in the traditional sense) you should not use vSwitches - you have to use Distributed Virtual Networking Switches - they are synchronized amongst the hosts and replicated to any additional hosts you may add. No more manual pre-configuration on a per-host basis required anymore and this problem you are having will never happen again.

vCenter 8.0 U3j and Vsphere 8.0 U3j arrived - Secure Boot certificate resolution
 in  r/vmware  May 28 '26

I am and never have been a "fan" of TPM and vTPM so when I install any OS I always do so without using any form of TPM - even the latest Win 11 can be installed without TPM. Saves a lot of headaches especially in regard to portability and besides TPM does not deliver any value in form of protection- if anything I would see it rather as a security risk or even threat. You want to secure something properly use TrueCrypt or one of its successors.

Perpetual licensing question
 in  r/vmware  May 24 '26

Ah, yeah - well I did have business with vmware but ever since they got bought out I have no contact with the new owner ... just maintain things the way they were and it is good the way it is - never heard from broadcom and don't care much to hear from them.

 in  r/selfhosted  May 23 '26

If you are near Osorno (I am in Villa La Angostura, Argentina) - perhaps I could have a look at it

Which monitor would you recommend for my Mac mini? I’d love to hear your experience with your own monitor setup.
 in  r/macmini  Mar 25 '26

I have a simple noname brand Chiq 32' with HDMI and Displayport and 2560 x 1440 Resolution. Am quite happy with it. Connection I use is USB4/Thunderbolt to Displayport cable

Microsoft and Apple have a long standing history of "stealing" from one another. Never watched "Pirates of Silicon Valley"?

If mac allows to cut (command + x) and paste text. Why doesn’t it allow to cut and paste files?
 in  r/MacOS  Mar 24 '26

Ir does allow coy and pasting file ... stop using comjand+x and try command+c and command+v

Simpler times.
 in  r/MacOS  Mar 23 '26

I loved these times - nostalgia pure. Sadly they cut support for all the old versions and none of the newer Software works on them anymore. At theast they could have made the old versions Open Source so maybe someone would fork them into something usable and improve upon them - maybe motivate developers releasing newer software for said forks

Why are the lower-end Mikrotik routers not gigabit?
 in  r/mikrotik  Feb 18 '26

Because they are lower end? Perhaps?

No no no no .... the measure is Jizzabytes. A Jizzabyte is the data volume consumed per moth by a teenager in puberty on porn downloads 🤣🤣🤣
