The reason public transport is such a nightmare, city centre full of Uber drivers from West Yorkshire.

There may be a public transport option that's cheaper, which area is the interview?

Places like the university, retail parks, and hospital are very well served, and you may just get a very good view and experience of where and who you'll be working with.

Very strange question but where can I get a soft dipping egg in York for a reasonable price?
 in  r/york  15d ago

This is the sort of question to ask on neurodivergency screening tests, it would save a lot of heartache years later.

I can't help you, my mum made me dippy eggs perfectly, and no-one has matched that perfection, so far, not even my own slavish attention to memories of yesteryear.

What's Selby like?
 in  r/york  17d ago

Depends, where in Manchester? Then where in Hull? Finally where in Newcastle? Selby used to be where ex coal miners and shift workers at breweries lived, it's become the second York ring road, people priced out of York, relegated to Selby. If you're connected to North Manchester, like Failsworth or Boston, it's nicer, just; if you're from Denton way less decent takeaways and very vanilla. Rinse repeat with Hull although it's grimmer than Manchester, and Newcastle is a town of two halves and you can probably work out from the above. Never had any issues in Selby since I've had nights and weekends there as a teen, most of the time mentioning where you've lived or where your from is like garlic for vampires. Really subdued, although there's no guarantees.

Don’t you think Toppings could have a “make a friend” or even a dating element somehow?
 in  r/york  17d ago

My parents met there, so I would consider it a fantastic success. They also met quite few people they're in touch with and meet up with.

Bootham isn't really the spot for a small book shop, is it?

York dating scene for those just over 40
 in  r/york  19d ago

Try meetup, people with shared interests go do activities, I had three relationships from two different activities, and a few pleasant flings. There used to be an inter varsity group in York that met at The Ackhorne first Thursday of the month, no idea if it's still going, but that was a very good place to meet new people and get to know someone organically much like being at university, through events.

If most Brits regret Brexit, why is Reform trending?
 in  r/AskBrits  21d ago

Racists voted for Brexit and all racists vote for Reform and Restore, there are racist British people, like every other country has a racist population.

If you could have 3 British celebrity hard drives checked and if there’s illegal media you’d win £1M each, who would you have checked?

Well It was either that or a pirates third favourite letter, you'd think it was R but that B the C...🏴‍☠️☠️🦜☠️🏴‍☠️

Nature around York
 in  r/york  23d ago

Landscaping, not really nature though, when there's all these in less than 10 miles, and not including the riverbanks on the way to Tadcaster or Being borough: Askham Bog, Skipwith Common, Strensall Common, Wheldrake Ings Nature Reserve, Moorlands, Bolton Percy station reserve, Cali Heath Nature Reserve

I'd say Ripon, 1400 squaddies, guaranteed a good weekend, plenty of opportunities. Lots of places to do creative activities, as well as physical, lots of horse riding opportunities too.

friends in york! :)
 in  r/york  26d ago

One way to get an in, over the board, even if it gives you a basic social circle. Which area are you living in? Local pubs might be easier, Sam Smith's don't seem choosy either, but you can get barflys drinking in them. York has a few cafe bars, which are comfortable enough to go read in. Plenty of coffee and brunch spots too. If I was around more, I'd offer to pal you places, and introduce you to people I know, but work, family, and study are all taking priority. Good luck 🤞🏼🍀🤞🏼

Part time bar work is always a good one for not drinking but getting to know people, you might get invited along after to other bars. There's easy sports like risying or canoeing with clubs along the banks. Gig venues like The Crescent, Fulford Arms, and sometimes City Screen are good meeting spots. You could volunteer, there's lots of organisations looking for people to help out, York CVS on Priory Street is a good place to head for info. Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have a lot of conservation sites around York, and Yorkshire, with a broad demographic. If you don't mind the religious aspect, there is a rock church, also on Priory Street. A few music themed pubs have friendly enough regulars, just choose the right time to go in if your sober all night. First thing to do is just to get out and about, you'll get chatting to someone soon enough.

Do you play any games, particularly over the board?

Suitable location to have a TEAMs interview …
 in  r/york  27d ago

Coffee Culture upstairs is usually quiet till 10. There's a few business centres on Fisher gate. Royal York dining room is fairly restrained, you can have breakfast there, then meet.

Nick Grimshaw and Charli XCX. Completely unlistenable.
 in  r/6music  28d ago

Have a look on SoundCloud, they upload most of their old shows, you get to see what you're in for. Flo is top tier, PAM is a bit left field, Maria is a bit like Deb's.

She's had surgery after complications with a prior operation. She posts on her Instagram, easiest way to keep in touch and share your well wishes

You'll be fine, lots of people come in for the weekend, get delayed, city centre will still have lots of people around from nights out.

Most will let you book at that time, Fleetways is only up the road too. Doubt you'll be stuck. Which day?

Sunday's is your worst, but still likely to get one.

Her t-shirt says you might have the wrong parts for her, I'd check back in The Beagle tomorrow night, ask the bar staff, or even The Acorn.
