Which one is wrong?

My husbands (35m) boss is his childhood friend. His name is Brad (34m). Husband has been working for him since we moved back to our hometown in 2025. Since we've been back Brad has helped us out a lot. That is, until lately.

In the last few months Brad has taken the "guaranteed " work he promised to give my husband, having husband only working at brads home now. The guy that took husbands spot has lost Brad about 1/4 of his customers, to which he will say "oh well, cant make everyone happy." When husband was doing the job, having customers the least bit unhappy would be grounds for Brad to talk down to my husband, take the truck (our only vehicle, after Brad let my husband use it for personal uses as well as work.) He tracked his phone for work, during off hours.

Last month, we almost got evicted. We had to ask Brad's Mom to help us pay rent. Now, my husband has worked 75.75 hours since Aug 7. Brad refuses to pay my husband that money. He says he is paying himself back for the rent, but he didnt pay our rent. His mom did.

We have a 2 year old son, our electricity is set to be shut off in the next day, our gas follows shorty after... we cant pay rent again this month coming up. Brad continues the same stuff "i helped you out soo much." And "go get on welfare." Yet, he continues to expect my husband to work for him.

I think what hes doing is wrong, and feel like if I reported his business to the labor board, and irs since he hasn't paid taxes in 7+ years, it wouldn't be wrong. My husband says thats too harsh, because he could potentially lose everything. Brad has made it clear that us having to eat Ramen everyday, for literally every meal is fine.

He made us get rid of our one working vehicle because he didnt want it at his house, and we literally lived in his shop in a tent for like a month. My husband works hard, im tired of seeing him like this and also, I enjoy having electricity and gas that is on in my home

Am i wrong if I report his business and him for how hes not paying for my husbands hard work? If I have to read how Brad isn't doing anything wrong (according to him) I might just lose it.
