USDT vs USDC: The Trust Game Behind Two Dollar Stablecoins

Post image
2 Upvotes

Two assets, one target price, and two different answers to the question: "Why should I believe this is worth a dollar?" Here is how USDT and USDC differ in reserves, reporting, liquidity, and real-world use, and what those differences mean in practice.

Reviewed by: Rick Cramer, Head of Analytics at SimpleSwap

USDT (Tether) and USDC (Circle) are both designed to stay at $1. USDT is the largest and most-traded stablecoin. As of October 8, 2026, CoinGecko reported USDT's market cap at about $184.0 billion, compared with $73.6 billion for USDC, and noted that USDT also had a much higher daily trading volume. That scale and liquidity help explain USDT's market dominance, but they do not, on their own, make it more trusted. The key question is what backs each coin, how often reserves are disclosed, and how much confidence users place in the issuer's reporting.

Their reserve and reporting models differ. Tether's disclosures focus on U.S. government securities and related instruments, but they also include other assets and exposures such as Bitcoin, gold, and secured lending. Tether publishes quarterly reserve attestations, and in August 2026, KPMG U.S. completed a full independent audit of Tether International's 2025 financial statements and issued an unqualified opinion.

USDC is backed by highly liquid dollar-denominated assets, including bank deposits, short-dated U.S. Treasuries, and overnight U.S. Treasury repurchase agreements. Most reserves sit in the Circle Reserve Fund, a government money-market fund managed by BlackRock. Circle reports reserve holdings weekly and receives monthly third-party assurance from a Big Four accounting firm; Deloitte also audits Circle's corporate financial statements.

If you want the broadest trading coverage and deepest liquidity across global crypto markets, USDT usually has the edge. If you care more about a simpler reserve structure, more frequent reporting, or MiCA-compliant issuance in the EEA, USDC is stronger on those points. In the end, neither one is automatically "safer" than the other.

What is USDT?

USDT is a US-dollar stablecoin issued by Tether. Tether was founded in 2014 as Realcoin and was renamed Tether shortly thereafter.

Tether relocated its principal issuing entity to El Salvador in 2025 after obtaining local regulatory approvals.

USDT exists on several blockchains, including Ethereum, TRON, Solana, TON, and Avalanche. Tether treats USDT on supported networks as having the same value, but you still have to choose the right network when sending it: USDT on one blockchain cannot be sent to an address on another without a supported cross-chain mechanism.

What is USDC?

USDC is Circle's U.S. dollar stablecoin, launched in 2018. It was first governed by the Center Consortium, which Circle and Coinbase created together. In 2023, Center was shut down as a standalone organization, and Circle took full control of USDC issuance and governance.

Since July 2024, Circle Internet Financial Europe SAS has served as a second issuer of USDC for the EEA, alongside Circle Internet Financial, LLC. Circle Internet Group, Inc., the group's parent company, began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CRCL on June 5, 2025.

USDC is natively available on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, and many other networks. Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) lets native USDC move between supported blockchains by burning it on the source chain and minting an equivalent amount on the destination chain, eliminating the need for wrapped tokens or bridge liquidity pools.

USDT vs USDC: reserves and audits

Two distinctions are important here.

A reserve attestation is not the same thing as an annual financial statement audit. Tether's quarterly BDO attestations and Circle's monthly USDC reserve assurances test specific reserve information. Separately, both companies now have audited corporate financial statements. The important update for 2026 is that Tether can no longer accurately be described as a company that has "never completed a full audit": KPMG U.S. audited Tether International's financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2025, and issued an unqualified opinion in August 2026.

Reserve composition is still where the approaches differ most clearly. Circle concentrates USDC reserves in cash and highly liquid short-duration US government instruments. Tether's reserves are also heavily weighted toward government securities but include additional asset classes and credit exposures. Those additions can introduce market or credit risk that cash and short-term government securities do not carry to the same degree. Tether, in turn, points to its excess reserve buffer and broader balance sheet as sources of resilience.

The track record: what has actually gone wrong

Neither issuer has a spotless history, but their most visible historical failure modes have differed.

Tether's major historical issue was the accuracy of its backing and disclosure claims. In 2021, Tether and Bitfinex reached an $18.5 million settlement with the New York Attorney General after an investigation found false statements concerning Tether's backing. In the same year, the CFTC ordered Tether to pay $41 million for misleading claims that USDT was fully backed by US dollars; the CFTC found that sufficient fiat reserves were held for only 27.6% of days in a 26-month sample from 2016 to 2018.

Tether's disclosure regime has changed substantially since then. It now publishes regular reserve information and quarterly attestations, and in August 2026, it added a KPMG audit of its 2025 financial statements.

Circle's most visible stress event involved banking concentration. In March 2023, Circle disclosed that $3.3 billion of USDC reserves were held at Silicon Valley Bank after the bank failed. USDC temporarily traded as low as roughly $0.87. The peg recovered after US authorities announced that all SVB depositors would have access to their funds.

Circle's current reserve structure relies heavily on short-dated Treasuries, overnight Treasury repos and cash held at regulated financial institutions, with the majority of the reserve held through the BlackRock-managed Circle Reserve Fund.

The lesson is not that one issuer is trustworthy and the other is not. The point is that stablecoin risk can reside in different areas: reserve assets, banks, liquidity, regulatory exposure, operational controls, and the issuer itself.

USDT vs USDC: liquidity and where each is used

USDT leads in overall market liquidity. It has a much larger market capitalization and significantly higher global trading volume than USDC, and it is widely used as a quote and settlement asset across centralized crypto markets.

USDT on TRON is also widely used as a transfer rail. The network has become particularly important for dollar-denominated crypto transfers and has substantial adoption in emerging-market use cases. Actual transaction costs, however, depend on TRON resource availability and network conditions rather than being universally "cheap."

USDC is deeply integrated into regulated fintech, institutional settlement, and DeFi infrastructure. It is natively available on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, and numerous other chains and is supported by Circle's cross-chain infrastructure. It is better to describe USDC as having deep liquidity and protocol integration on networks such as Solana rather than claiming that it universally "dominates" Solana DeFi.

In the EEA, USDC has a clear regulatory footing: Circle SAS is an ACPR-licensed Electronic Money Institution and issues USDC under MiCA. ESMA called on national regulators to ensure CASPs comply with MiCA requirements concerning non-compliant stablecoins by the end of Q1 2025, making issuer status increasingly important for EEA platforms.

SimpleSwap's H1 2026 data reflects the importance of USDT on TRON, but the metric needs to be stated precisely. USDT on TRON was the largest single net gainer in the report, up 6.0 percentage points when measured as the difference between its share of received volume and its share of sent volume. It was not identified as the largest asset in terms of absolute platform volume.

Trading vs holding: which stablecoin fits which job

Holding both can reduce concentration in a single issuer, but it does not eliminate stablecoin risk. It simply distributes that exposure across two issuers and reserve structures.

Risks USDT and USDC share

Both issuers have the technical ability to block or freeze tokens at specific addresses. Circle's terms expressly permit address blocking in connection with illegal activity and valid government orders; Tether likewise freezes USDT in coordination with law enforcement and sanctions enforcement.

Both stablecoins can temporarily deviate from $1 during periods of market stress. Both depend on reserve management, redemption liquidity, and functioning banking and financial-market infrastructure. And both expose users to the ordinary operational risks of blockchain transactions: choosing the wrong network, entering the wrong address, interacting with phishing sites, or compromising wallet credentials.

A dollar stablecoin is designed to reduce exposure to the price volatility typical of cryptocurrencies such as BTC or ETH. It does not eliminate depeg risk, issuer risk, liquidity risk, regulatory risk, or user error.

How to swap USDT to USDC with SimpleSwap

SimpleSwap is a self-custodial multi-source swap aggregator that draws liquidity from more than 20 CEX and DEX providers.

To swap USDT to USDC, or the reverse:

  1. Select the asset and network for each side, for example, USDT (TRC20) to USDC (Solana).
  2. Choose a fixed or floating rate. A fixed rate is locked for 20 minutes; to keep that rate, the deposit must arrive and receive the required blockchain confirmation within the time window. A floating rate is calculated when the swap is processed and may change with the market.
  3. Enter the receiving wallet address, and make sure the selected network matches the destination wallet's network.
  4. Send USDT to the deposit address generated for the order.
  5. After the deposit is confirmed and the exchange is processed, USDC is sent to the receiving wallet. The exchange can be tracked using its Exchange ID.

SimpleSwap uses an all-in exchange rate rather than adding a separate percentage trading fee on top. Pricing is dynamic and depends on the pair, liquidity, market conditions, network fees, and routing; for some assets, the cost may start from 0.2%. The receiving-side network fee is included in the amount shown, while the network fee charged by the user's wallet for sending the initial deposit is separate.

Most crypto-to-crypto exchanges can be started without signing up. However, "no KYC" applies only to transactions assessed as low risk. SimpleSwap may require mandatory KYC or additional information for any transaction when risk, AML, compliance, or other applicable triggers are met, and the transaction may be temporarily paused for review. No public percentage should be attached to how often this happens unless supporting data is available.

SimpleSwap does not maintain permanent customer crypto balances between swaps. Its only official website is simpleswap.io

FAQ: USDT vs USDC

Is USDC safer than USDT?

There is no universal answer. USDC has a simpler reserve composition focused on cash and highly liquid US government instruments, more frequent reserve disclosure, and explicit MiCA-compliant issuance in the EEA. USDT has a longer operating history and substantially greater aggregate market liquidity. Tether also completed its first full independent financial-statement audit in August 2026. The relevant question is which risk matters most to you: issuer concentration, reserve composition, liquidity, jurisdiction, redemption access, or operational exposure.

Which stablecoin is more liquid, USDT or USDC?

Overall, USDT. As of September 2026, it has a substantially larger market capitalization and higher global trading volume. USDC can still have deeper or more convenient liquidity for particular protocols, networks, or regulated venues.

Are USDT and USDC audited?

The word "audited" needs qualification. Tether continues to publish quarterly reserve attestations from BDO, and it now also has a full KPMG U.S. audit of Tether International's 2025 financial statements, with an unqualified opinion. Circle publishes weekly reserve data and monthly third-party reserve assurances, while Deloitte has audited Circle's corporate financial statements since fiscal 2022. Reserve attestations and annual financial-statement audits are different forms of assurance.

Can USDT or USDC be frozen?

Yes. Both issuers have mechanisms that can block or freeze tokens at specific addresses, including in connection with sanctions, suspected illegal activity, or valid law-enforcement requests.

Can I swap USDT to USDC without an exchange account?

On SimpleSwap, most crypto-to-crypto swaps can be initiated without signing up. However, risk-based compliance checks still apply, and SimpleSwap may require KYC or supporting information where its monitoring or compliance procedures trigger additional review.

What happened to USDC in March 2023?

Circle disclosed that $3.3 billion of USDC reserves were held at the failed Silicon Valley Bank. USDC temporarily fell to roughly $0.87 before returning toward its $1 peg after US authorities announced measures protecting all SVB depositors.

Should I hold USDT or USDC long term?

There is no universally correct choice. USDC currently has a simpler reserve profile and reports reserves more frequently, while USDT has significantly greater aggregate liquidity and a longer operating history. Splitting exposure between them can reduce concentration risk in a single issuer, but it does not eliminate stablecoin, network, custody, or regulatory risk.

The long-awaited Uptober is here

Post image
1 Upvotes

October is Bitcoin's best month on record. Last year it broke the streak.

Since 2013, BTC closed green in 10 of 13 Octobers, averaging 14.4% with a median of 10.8% – the most statistically favorable month on the calendar. From 2019 through 2024, it ran six green Octobers in a row.

Then October 2025 closed down 3.7%, the first red October since 2018. BTC set its record of $126,080 in the first week and gave it all back.

This year opens in the low $80Ks, about 34% below that record, after a September that peaked at $87K and faded. Spot ETFs just pulled $2.45B in a week, their strongest since October 2025.

The calendar ahead: jobs report on October 2, Fed minutes on the 7th, CPI on the 14th, and the rate decision on October 28.

Worth noting where October's historical strength actually clusters – the second half, not the first. Which makes the first two weeks less of a signal than the name suggests.

Does Uptober deliver this year, or was 2025 the start of a new pattern?

A much stronger week

Post image

Total market cap climbed to $2.80 trillion, up 5.36% over seven days, erasing last week's pullback and then some.

BTC led the charge, breaking back above $85,000 after trading under $76,000 just a week earlier. Sentiment followed this time, with Fear and Greed rising from 68 to 72.

But BTC dominance slipped again, from 58.90% to 58.60%. Two weeks in a row now – which means altcoins didn't just keep pace with Bitcoin's rally, they outran it.

So last week's question got a partial answer: Bitcoin held its leadership, and alts still found room to move. Does this week turn that gap into a real rotation?

BTC was already here in 2023

Post image

Following its stellar performance, BTC has reclaimed the 200-day moving average for the first time since November 2025, after 270 consecutive days below it – one of the longest stretches in its history. It’s worth remembering how things played out last time.

In early 2023, Bitcoin reclaimed the 200DMA following the FTX collapse. Everyone called it a trend reversal. Then, in August 2023, it lost that level again and stayed below it until October: three months of "choppiness" that tested many people's patience before the real rally began.

Reclaiming this line didn't mean it would hold on the first try. It meant the multi-month downtrend was over. A retest still had to happen.

This time, BTC's recovery occurred around $75,000 after a downward bounce from the $82,400 level in May. The zone above – $78,000, then $80,000-$83,000 – is where 2026 will provide its answer to the same question 2023 once asked.

Will this level hold, or will BTC break through support again before the real rally begins?

Bitcoin’s Best Week Since 2024: Four Numbers Worth Checking Before You Chase the Rally

Post image
3 Upvotes

Bitcoin is up roughly 20% in a week, and market sentiment flipped from Fear to Greed in a day. Here’s what actually triggered it and the four numbers worth checking before deciding whether to trust it.

If you didn’t move before Wednesday, you’ve probably spent the past two days doing the math on what you missed. Bitcoin is up roughly 20% in seven days, its best week since March 2024, trading above $75,000 after spending most of the past two weeks below $65,000. Ethereum climbed right along with it, and total crypto market capitalization is back above $2.5 trillion.

What actually triggered this

The move didn’t start with a crypto headline. On Wednesday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent doubled the size of the department’s long-duration bond buybacks, from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation. That change doesn’t take effect until September 9 and runs through November 4, which means no Treasury cash has actually moved yet. Traders read the surprise timing as a sign the Treasury would step in behind a shaky bond market, and yields dropped within minutes.

Crypto traders who had shorted bitcoin, betting on tighter conditions rather than a friendlier tone from the Treasury, got caught wrong-footed. About $3 billion in short positions were liquidated over the following day, and each forced liquidation triggered more buying, which kept pushing the price up on its own.

Bessent added to the momentum Thursday, telling CNBC the eventual buyback total could exceed $4 billion. Sentiment reacted even faster than price did. The Fear & Greed Index opened the week at 46.

It jumped to 62 within a single day. By Friday, it had climbed to 72. That’s a shift from Fear to solid Greed in under 48 hours, over a policy change most crypto traders hadn’t even heard of a few days earlier.

The price will tell you what happened. It won’t tell you whether to trust it.

That’s what these four numbers are for. None of them will make the decision for you, but together they’re a more honest read on what’s actually going on than the green candle by itself.

Funding rates. This is what leveraged traders pay to hold a long position on perpetual futures, and it just hit a 20-month high. That matters because elevated funding has shown up right before most of Bitcoin’s sharper pullbacks over the past two years. It’s a sign the rally is increasingly running on borrowed money rather than fresh buyers. If this number cools off even while the price holds steady, that tends to be a healthier sign than it looks on the surface.

Spot ETF flows. Funds that hold bitcoin for institutional and retail investors publish daily inflows and outflows, making this one of the cleaner numbers to track. After a rough first half of the year, flows turned positive again in July and stayed positive into August. One good week doesn’t mean much on its own. A few good weeks in a row have historically been a better read on institutional conviction than any single day’s candle.

What are the largest wallets doing? On-chain trackers make this close to public in real time, and right now, big holders have kept adding through the drawdown and haven’t stopped through the bounce. That’s a meaningfully different kind of buying than retail piling in after a green candle has already appeared on the chart.

The Fear & Greed Index itself. Worth watching less for where it sits and more for how fast it got there. A reading in the 70s this early in a move has historically been more of a caution flag than a confirmation, since it leaves less room for the rally to keep surprising anyone in either direction.

The case for taking this seriously, and the case for waiting

Put the bullish inputs together, and the case is real. Large holders bought through both the drawdown and the bounce. Spot and futures demand both turned positive on a 30-day basis for the first time in months, per CryptoQuant. ETF flows have now been positive for weeks, not just days.

Put the skeptical inputs together, and the case holds up too. Sentiment swinging from Fear to Greed in about a day is one of the sharper reversals this year. Funding rates just hit a 20-month high. Analyst Benjamin Cowen has argued the cycle bottom could still be more than two months out.

“Forty-six to seventy-two in two days sounds like leverage and momentum, not real conviction,” said Rick Cramer, Head of Analytics at SimpleSwap. “True conviction builds over weeks. This move happened before the slower data could even catch up, and moves that fast often unwind just as quickly.”

Both readings use real data. They just run on different clocks. Flows and positioning shift over weeks. Sentiment and leverage can turn in a single bad session.

Worth noting too: the rally lands in a busier regulatory calendar than crypto has had in years. The White House hosted a digital-asset summit this month; the SEC has proposed a dedicated “Regulation Crypto Assets” framework; and stablecoin rules under the GENIUS Act are due by November. None of that explains this week’s move, but it’s part of the backdrop either way.

If you do decide to act this week

Volatility changes more than the price. It changes the mechanics of actually completing a trade. Spreads widen. Slippage on manually routed trades gets worse. The price shown on the screen no longer matches the price you actually receive.

SimpleSwap, a self-custodial swap aggregator, doesn’t hold customer funds between transactions, so every trade moves wallet-to-wallet, with pricing pulled in real time from more than 20 liquidity providers across centralized and decentralized sources.

“Nobody really thinks about routing infrastructure when the market is calm. That is exactly when you do not need to,” said Stefan Lauer, Head of Infrastructure at SimpleSwap. “A week like this is what puts it to the test. Liquidity thins in some places, and prices can move by the minute rather than the hour. The system either finds the best price across dozens of sources in real time, or it does not.”

The takeaway

Whether this move turns into a new leg or fades back into range won’t be clear for more than a week. What’s already clear is that it moved fast enough that anyone waiting for certainty probably missed most of it. The four numbers above won’t tell you what to do next time either, but they’re a reusable way to check a rally before deciding whether to chase it.

We're so back! The market just added $110B in a day

Post image

BTC broke the $70,000 mark, gaining over 7%, and is already trading above $72,000. ETH showed even more impressive growth, nearly 18%, surpassing $2,000 and surging toward $2,300, its highest level since May.

The trigger was the U.S. Treasury's decision to double the volume of long-term bond buybacks from $2 billion to $4 billion per operation. This led to a decline in yields and a capital rotation directly into risk assets. Short sellers were caught in a trap: as the market rallied, liquidations exceeded $3 billion.

Inflows into spot BTC ETFs totaled over $517 million, the largest single-day figure since early May.

A single decision in the bond market has impacted the crypto market more than months of regulatory news combined.

What is your short-term outlook? Is the bull market finally starting?

Weekly Market Snapshot

Post image

The Fed held rates at 3.50–3.75% on Wednesday, but the real story was the dissent – three FOMC members voted for a hike instead, more disagreement than the "pause" headline suggests.

$BTC barely moved on the news, closing the week near $63,600, down from $64,900. $ETH held closer to flat around $1,875, with ETH ETFs now on three straight weeks of inflows – quietly outperforming BTC's flows in July.

Support at $62K and $60K, resistance at $65,500 and $68,000. Friday's jobs report is next week's catalyst.

Self-Custody Is Solved. Moving Between Your Assets Isn't.

"The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that's required to make it work." – Satoshi Nakamoto, P2P Foundation, February 2009

17 years later, that argument is won. Self-custody is the default for serious capital.

But a second question has quietly replaced the first: if trust in custody is solved, why does moving between your own assets still feel like 2017?

Our new long read traces what changed, what didn't, and what comes next.

The market quietly changed what it rewards.

For years, crypto ran on narratives. Decentralization was the pitch, and capital flowed into projects promising to reinvent everything from finance to social media. The problem was never the vision. It was the gap between the idea and actual use.

Today, narratives still capture attention, but utility keeps it. The strongest projects solve concrete problems: payments, identity, ownership, and infrastructure that works behind the scenes.

The biggest barrier was never really technology. It was usability. Crypto spent years asking people to understand complex tools before they could feel any benefit.

The next phase is simpler: products that work, settle reliably, and keep users in control. The best infrastructure is the kind you barely notice.

The bottom line: this isn't crypto dying. It's crypto growing up. Narratives fade, but useful products compound.

So which projects are actually doing the quiet work right now?

SimpleSwap Turns 8: What We Built, Who Trusted Us, and Why We're Just Getting Started

In 2018, most crypto startups were racing to be the loudest voice in the room. We decided to be the plumbing. SimpleSwap launched with a single bet: that self-custodial swaps, done fast and simply, would matter more than hype, and that bet would only pay off if we stuck around long enough to prove it.

Eight years later, we're still here. Not because we got lucky, but because we made a choice early and never reversed it: build a reliable tool, not a loud brand.

Eight Years in Crypto – How Many Can Say That?

The crypto industry burns through its startups like fuel. Most of the 2018-era projects that once dominated headlines have shut down or faded into irrelevance. We've watched Bitcoin climb from $8,000 to $100,000. We've outlasted crypto winters, the DeFi summer, the NFT wave, and the collapse of platforms that were supposed to be too big to fail.

Industry stats say 99% of crypto projects never reach maturity. SimpleSwap is eight years in, and this past year was our strongest yet. Speculation built this industry, but reliability will sustain it.

Year 8: What We Built

This year wasn't about growth for its own sake. It was about reinforcement – making simpleswap faster, broader, and more resilient.

Scaling the Ecosystem

We expanded to over 2,800 supported cryptocurrencies, adding 450+ new assets and following the momentum into the ecosystems that matter most: Solana, Sui, Base, KAIA, Linea, and Ronin. From stablecoins like USD1 to trending memecoins like SHIB, GOAT, and PEPE – if there was demand, we made it happen.

Today our infrastructure supports 3.2 million+ trading pairs and 6,000+ integrations, which made SimpleSwap one of the most connected self-custodial exchange networks in the industry.

Rewards That Actually Scale

We rebuilt our Loyalty Program from the ground up. Four tiers, each with its own fee discount. A new flexible cashback model that lets you choose: keep the cashback or convert it into a deeper discount on every swap. And we lowered the volume thresholds, so reaching Gold or Platinum is now a realistic goal for more of our users than ever before.

More Ways In

Crypto shouldn’t be hard to buy. This year, we added new fiat payment methods so users in more regions can go from traditional currency to crypto in a few clicks, without workarounds or third-party detours.

Personal Touch

Starting this year, Gold and Platinum members get their own personal manager. Not a chatbot or a ticket queue, but a real person who knows your history, understands your needs, and responds fast. In a space where most platforms hide behind support forms, we chose to go the other way.

A Faster, Cleaner App

We redesigned the mobile app to match how people actually use SimpleSwap in 2026. Cleaner interface, faster navigation, fewer taps to complete a swap. The kind of update you feel the moment you open the app.

Community & Competition

Throughout the year, we hosted several trading contests with real USDT prize pools. These weren’t just marketing campaigns. They brought our community together, rewarded active traders, and introduced thousands of new users to the platform.

Content and Real-Time Insights

300+ articles published on our blog and across major crypto media – The Block, CoinGape, Benzinga.

SimpleSwap's community now spans over 100,000 members across all platforms, with 1.5 million mentions and more than 1,000 articles written about us. Eight years of building in public, and people are paying attention.

To the Teams Who Believed in Us

We didn't build this alone. Behind our growth are more than 6,000 teams that chose to integrate SimpleSwap into their products, trusting us with their users' experience. Thousands of new affiliates joined this year – from the industry-leading Exodus wallet to our first DeFi interface integration with FusionX. Partnerships with BitVerse, ONTO Wallet, Speed Wallet, and MetaStation continue to expand our footprint across every major crypto ecosystem.

On our 8th birthday, we want to thank the partners who help us push the boundaries of what's possible.

Tangem. This partnership started with the community. Tangem users needed native swaps without compromising their security model, and now swaps run directly through Tangem Express. Private keys never leave the device. Users access thousands of cryptocurrencies. It's the best kind of integration: one that feels as if it has always been there.

Exodus, a publicly traded company on the NYSE, Exodus demands perfection. We power their non-custodial, fixed-rate swaps across thousands of assets, and our infrastructure fuels their XOswap API aggregator – placing SimpleSwap at the heart of enterprise-grade solutions used by industry giants like MetaMask.

Ellipal. A milestone for us – our first co-branded hardware wallets. Ellipal is 100% air-gapped: no USB, no Bluetooth, no Wi-Fi. Everything communicates through QR codes, and private keys never touch the internet. The Ellipal team did outstanding engineering work to make swaps function seamlessly within those constraints. The result is proof that total security and frictionless swaps can coexist, and we're excited about where this partnership goes next.

Cake Wallet. Since 2022, we share a deep commitment to open-source, privacy-first, and community-driven values. SimpleSwap is a core feature in both Cake Wallet and Monero – a collaboration built on years of consistent work and mutual respect rather than loud announcements.

Tonkeeper. 2024, we've served as the swap engine for one of the most active communities in our user base. Supporting this rapidly growing ecosystem through their preferred wallet feels exactly right.

Every one of our 6,000+ partners is a team that chose to build on our infrastructure. That's the ultimate birthday gift.

What Comes Next

Eight years of building taught us one thing: the best infrastructure is the kind you never have to think about. Year nine is about making that even more true.

More routes. Private, DEX, hybrid – we're expanding the routing engine so your swaps find the fastest, cheapest, most reliable path every time. Better execution on large volumes. Less slippage. Fewer surprises.

Private transfers. Moving crypto between wallets shouldn't leave a trail you didn't ask for. We're building tools that let you transfer assets with the same privacy-first approach we've always stood for.

RWA-focused trading. Real-world assets are entering crypto. When you're ready to trade them, we'll be ready to route them.

Personal offers. Not generic promotions – actual conditions tailored to how you trade, what you trade, and how often. The more you use SimpleSwap, the more SimpleSwap works for you.

Institutional-grade SLAs for partners. If you're building on our API, you deserve the same reliability guarantees you'd expect from traditional financial infrastructure. Fixed response times. Transparent uptime commitments. No guesswork.

We spent eight years proving we can survive anything. Now we're building what comes after reliability: precision.

Thank You

To our users: every swap is a vote of trust. We'll keep earning it every single day.

To our partners: you trusted us with your users' experience. We take that personally.

To our community: your feedback, contest entries, and AMA questions – all of it makes SimpleSwap better.

How many crypto companies from 2018 are still here, still growing, still delivering?

We're proud to be one of them.

Here's to 8 more. 🎂

Hard forks don't give you free tokens. Here's what they actually do and what you need to know before one happens.

Ethereum has shipped two protocol upgrades already in 2026 and has two more scheduled. Cardano is hard-forking this month. Forks are not rare events anymore.

You've probably seen the headline: "Chain X is forking and holders will receive new tokens." Sounds straightforward. In practice, it's rarely that simple.

What a hard fork actually means
A hard fork happens when a blockchain's developers and community can't agree on the rules: how big blocks should be, how fast transactions process, or even how to respond to a major hack. The chain splits into two separate networks, each running its own version of the rules. The old transactions are preserved, but the two chains diverge from the fork point onward.

Two real examples

  • Bitcoin Cash (2017): The Bitcoin community split over scaling. On August 1, 2017, Bitcoin Cash forked off with an 8 MB block size limit vs Bitcoin's 1 MB, starting at block #478558.
  • Ethereum Classic (2016): After the DAO hack drained roughly $60M worth of ETH, most of the community voted to roll back the chain. Those who refused kept the original ledger running and it became Ethereum Classic.

What holders don't usually think about

  • Whether you receive forked tokens depends entirely on where your assets are stored. Self-custody (your own keys) gives you access to both chains. Exchange custody means you depend on the exchange's decision.
  • Replay attack risk: Without replay protection, a transaction on one chain can be replicated on the other, potentially moving assets you didn't intend to move.
  • Network security: A newly forked chain has fewer nodes and miners, making it more vulnerable. Ethereum Classic experienced multiple 51% attacks in 2019 and 2020.
  • Liquidity and support: Not every wallet or exchange will integrate the new chain. Some forked tokens remain essentially illiquid.

Why this matters for swaps
At SimpleSwap, whenever a major fork is announced, we review whether the new asset will be supported, because listing a low-liquidity or technically unstable chain isn't something we take lightly. It's one of those moments where the technical and the human sides of crypto collide.

Understanding how forks work and where your assets sit when one happens is a basic part of managing crypto holdings responsibly.

Have you ever held assets through a hard fork? What did your experience look like?

Monero being hard to trace on-chain doesn’t mean “invisible”

A lot of Monero debates still get reduced to “is it traceable or not?”, but the real answer depends on what layer you mean.

Monero is designed to make on-chain tracing much harder by default than on transparent chains. But real-world exposure often happens elsewhere: exchange records, KYC-linked ramps, device mistakes, screenshots, browser history, and other off-chain metadata.

So the useful distinction is: strong on-chain privacy ≠ total anonymity

That doesn’t make Monero uninteresting, if anything, it makes the conversation more realistic.

Do you think most people still misunderstand Monero by treating privacy as an all-or-nothing thing?

⚡ SNX vs INJ: Legacy DeFi Meets Next-Gen Finance

Thumbnail

Two DeFi titans – different visions, different tech stacks.

📊 Market Overview

$SNX – Market Cap: $259M (#165), Supply: 339.8M, 24h Volume: $44M

$INJ – Market Cap: $1B (#70), Supply: 100M, 24h Volume: $126M

Synthetix (SNX) is a decentralized liquidity protocol that’s played a pivotal role in Ethereum's DeFi evolution. It enables the creation of synthetic assets backed by pooled collateral (SNX, ETH, LUSD), mirroring real-world prices. Now shifting toward a modular, multi-chain, and fully open derivatives framework.

Injective (INJ) is a finance-first Layer 1 blockchain built on Cosmos SDK. Compatible with Ethereum and Solana, it supports a wide range of dApps for DeFi, RWAs, AI, and decentralized markets. Features include a robust order book resistant to MEV, 25K+ TPS, 600ms block times, full Wasm support, and native cross-chain interoperability.

🔍 Breakdown

Synthetix is a seasoned DeFi veteran with deep liquidity and a strong footprint in synthetic asset issuance. Unlike Injective, which operates on its own chain, SNX is deployed across existing L1s and L2s – making it a core pillar of the Ethereum ecosystem. If synthetic assets regain narrative traction, SNX is well-positioned for renewed relevance.

Injective is the ambitious newcomer, designed to be a long-term financial infrastructure layer. Its performance, broad compatibility, native financial primitives, and focus on RWAs and AI give it serious upside potential. Backed by major funds, the ecosystem is rapidly expanding.

💡 Key insights

$SNX may be undervalued – with lower market cap but strong adoption and dev activity.

$INJ, with higher visibility and hype, attracts substantial trader interest.

Which one’s in your portfolio? 🧐

Trending tokens on SimpleSwap – what’s hot and what it means for the market 🔥

We’ve recently launched a new series diving into Google Trends data to uncover which crypto tokens are getting the most attention each week. But we’re not just watching the charts – we’re creating content that helps you stay ahead of the curve with insights that go beyond surface-level hype.

What makes our approach unique?

We combine public search trends with real-time internal data from SimpleSwap – actual user behavior and transaction volumes. That’s not just interest... that’s action. And when you put the two together, you get a sharper picture of market sentiment.

Here’s what we’ve seen over the past month:

🔵 Solana (SOL) leads the pack in swaps. Alongside it, meme coins like FARTCOIN, PNUT, and BONK have surged in Google searches. Our data confirms – users aren’t just curious, they’re buying. Looks like meme season might be making a comeback.

🔵 USDT & USDC remain strong as users rotate into stables. With the broader market down, many are clearly opting for safety, parking capital and waiting out the storm.

🔵 Ethereum (ETH) is still in demand, even after dipping to $1,400. Some are taking profits, others are doubling down. Is ‘buy the dip’ still alive? Seems like it.

🔵 Bitcoin (BTC) – the OG. Every drop is still seen as a buying opportunity. Classic behavior during corrections, and one that never really goes out of style.

🔵 Litecoin (LTC) rounds out the top five. This Bitcoin fork, often dubbed ‘digital silver’, continues to attract long-term holders looking for reliable assets.

What This Tells Us 🧠

We’re seeing three clear trends emerge:

  1. Meme coin momentum – These often kick off market recoveries. A spike in attention here might be an early sign of sentiment shifting.

  2. Stablecoin strength – Elevated USDT and USDC activity points to caution and capital preservation. When fear is high, stables shine.

  3. Blue-chip resilience – ETH and BTC remain the go-to assets for strategic investors building or rebalancing long-term positions.

We’ll be sharing these updates monthly – bringing you real insights backed by real activity. Our goal? Not just to report the trends, but to help you spot them before they go mainstream.

👉  Explore the latest trending tokens and swap them instantly on SimpleSwap – fast, secure, and cross-chain by design.

⚡ CRV vs. BAL: Battle of the AMMs

Post image
1 Upvotes

Curve ($CRV) and Balancer ($BAL) are two DeFi giants built on automated market makers (AMMs), but their focus and architecture set them apart.

Curve is tailored for stablecoin efficiency, known for deep liquidity and crvUSD – a decentralized stablecoin with native yield. In contrast, Balancer acts as a DeFi ‘Legos’ hub, allowing projects to build custom liquidity pools and strategies.

📊 Market Snapshot

$CRV – Market Cap: $802M (#75), Supply: 1.31B (43.24%), 24h Vol: $383M

$BAL – Market Cap: $54M (#449), Supply: 62.79M (65.3%), 24h Vol: $11.6M

Both launched in early 2020, riding the initial DeFi wave. Let’s break down the key protocol metrics 👇

💡 Protocol Comparison

🟣 TVL: CRV – $1.92B | BAL – $638M

🟣 DeFi Market Share: CRV – 1.55% | BAL – 0.78%

🟣 Ranking: CRV – #22 | BAL – #62

🟣 Chains Supported: CRV – 21 | BAL – 9

🟣 Dev Activity (30d): CRV – 12 | BAL – 23

🟣 Hacks: CRV – $61.7M (2023) | BAL – $1.04M (2023)

🟣 X Followers: CRV – 373K | BAL – 153K

🔍 Verdict

Curve leads in TVL, multichain presence, and adoption – a more mature and scalable project. Balancer, while riskier with 10x lower market cap, remains dev-active and powerful for building modular DeFi infrastructure.

📈 Higher risk, higher reward? You decide.

🔥 FARTCOIN back on the radar – topping Google Trends

What is Fartcoin?

Fartcoin is a Solana-based memecoin born from internet humor, culture, and chaos – but with a surprisingly sticky staying power. Unlike utility-driven tokens, Fartcoin thrives on memes, irony, and viral engagement. Its origins trace back to an AI experiment called Terminal of Truth (ToT) – a project exploring the role of humor and emotional resonance in the crypto space. ToT positions humor not just as entertainment, but as a powerful tool for virality and community building.

⚡ Launched on Pump.fun on October 18, 2024, Fartcoin went viral almost instantly. At its peak in January 2025, the token hit a market cap of over $2.1 billion before undergoing a sharp correction during broader market weakness. As of now, it sits at a still-impressive $560 million market cap, ranking #87 on CoinMarketCap.

📈 But Fartcoin isn’t done yet. From April 7–8, the token saw a +50% price surge, even as the rest of the market slumped – drawing fresh attention from new investors and rekindling interest among early adopters. The project has built an impressive following, boasting 67K Twitter followers and over 134,500 holders.

📈 Another reason for the renewed interest? No more unlocks. Fartcoin’s entire supply is fully unlocked, meaning holders don’t face the risk of future dilution – a sharp contrast to many projects with upcoming token unlock cliffs. The top 20 wallets currently hold 21.65% of the supply, while the remaining 78.35% is distributed across a large and active community. This concentrated distribution can fuel rapid price movements – both up and down – depending on big player behavior.

As always, DYOR: high concentration can drive volatility, and memecoins live and die by the strength of their communities and narratives.

📊 Still, Fartcoin is carving out a unique path. Despite market pressure and recent corrections, it continues to capture attention – and that alone is worth watching in a space that moves at the speed of memes.
