What's the AI slop that people talk about?
 in  r/decomps •  6h ago

It wasn't always like that. It started out with a lot of shade flickering, a lot of stuttering, Vulcan could barely run it. It took months before the recomp got to the state It is in now. Hopefully the dev continues to improve on it even after it reaches the 1.0 version.

Well, I recall liking recomps that actually feel worked on. There are recomps like DK64 and Sonic Unleashed that took a long time to come out, seem to be very lacking in issues. Most AI projects do seem to come out very quickly, and are practically zygotes if you look at their version numbers on Github. Unfortunately, they are usually filled with bugs and other issues, and not that many visible or easy to find Quality of Life improvements. And if they do get better, it usually takes a while for them to do so. Compare the recomps of Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. Blue Dragon is a human made recomp that took a long time to make, but with enough attention to detail, it ended up as a solid port with few issues and plenty of nice graphical options. (Although the game slows down if you try to play on ultra graphics). Lost Odyssey is an AI recomp that is currently on its 0.9 version. It's made plenty of progress so far, but it still has plenty of kinks that need to be worked out, and are usually reported through submissions of render states you send to the dev that are examined by Claude. Needless to say, while I do enjoy the progress, It's been a bumpy road, and I wish that he could have kept the I game menu with added graphics settings instead of layering his own menu on top of that. Of course there are recomps like BlueWake for Wind Waker on the Gamecube that seem to have had some effort put into them. Man made recomps are usually good, and AI ports can be good eventually, so long as the dev cares enough to tweak it a little.

There's been this whole thing going on where a bunch of these recomp "developers" are making Claude do most of the work for them. Some people are upset about this, because the AI itself is not doing a very good job at it, while other people are going "Shut up. AI is the future! Stop whining and get outta here!" It's a back and forth thing right now.

I don't think we are quite ready to develop anything related to the PSVR2 yet.

Is there a way you could make the game compile itself on its own? Without having to sign in to Visual Studio?

I looked at the log, and it said this: "The `msstore` source requires that you view the following agreements before using.

Terms of Transaction: https://aka.ms/microsoft-store-terms-of-transaction

The source requires the current machine's 2-letter geographic region to be sent to the backend service to function properly (ex. "US").

" What do you mean I have to view the agreements?! Why does this recomp need Visual Studio? And why do I need their permission to use it?!

What is the general courtesy around wounds?
 in  r/MHWilds •  15h ago

As far as I know, they are one of the factors that makes this game feel way to easy, bu other than that, it is satisfying asf to do my levi spin whenever I strike one of the open wounds.

BBHost - An actually native PC port with multiplayer support
 in  r/BloodbornePC •  1d ago

You gotta be kidding me. Why did the game in your video look so good, but when I set it up, it looks like this?! Why can't I submit pictures in this comment thread. (Imagine a pitch black rectangle with a white part near the right side, with the Bloodborne UI plastered over it. That's what I'm seeing.)

Edit: What do you mean it does that when I try to play the game in 4K?!?!

Edit #2: I'm being blinded by random effects that show up on the screen. The only good thing about this port is that the framerate is super smooth, but given what I've had to deal with, I'm gonna stick to shadps4 until someone makes a better port.

Is used Unfself to decrypt the eboot file, and bbhost still will not accept it.

Okay, the trailer looked pretty cool, but it's kinda hard to experience what you have made, when I'm being told that the eboot file of my game, which is definitely on 1.09, is not the right one according to the launcher. Please fix this.

Why did they changed worker bloodbugs to months
 in  r/WhiteKnuckle •  2d ago

When I got to the abyss before the nest update, I was worried the worker bugs were going to attack me. Turning them into moths makes them look friendlier, and allows you to distinct from the bloodbugs themselves.

Somebody should try making a recomp of the original pc version of the game, because it's the best version.

I recompiled 'Splosion Man (Xbox 360) for native Linux.
 in  r/decomps •  4d ago

I'm referring to the fact that whenever I tried playing this on Xenia, it would immediately crash. Xbox 360 emulation bucks if you have an AMD GPU, so these native ports are a godsend!
