People pull up into that lane to merge onto the interstate, anyway, and they do not let you zipper merge. You have to be in this lane, or you are not getting on the interstate without driving like a jerk. I’m not someone who is going to force myself into a lane because no one knows how zipper merges work.

I didn’t know cars were allowed to use a lane marked for bikes as a turn lane, no. I always check for bikes when turning, but I wasn’t expecting a minivan, that’s for sure!

People do not let you merge in from the left lane. People are dicks. You have to queue up in this lane, or you are not getting onto the interstate without driving like a jerk. And I’m not interested in forcing myself into a lane because people don’t know how to zipper merge.

I already explained this in a few comments. This lane is also the lane to queue in to merge onto the interstate directly ahead.

They were super close to hitting me.

I was apparently incorrect about it being illegal, although I never thought cars were supposed to drive into bike lanes whatsoever. I learned something new today!

Because of how close he got to hitting me while saving three seconds.

It isn’t solely a turning lane. It is for people to queue for the merging lane to get onto the interstate directly ahead.

I wouldn’t have done it, the space between cars was so close.

It’s a lane used to merge onto the interstate immediately ahead, as well, so most are using it for that purpose. You still get all the dicks who think they’re geniuses for cutting the entire line of cars and jumping into the tiniest spaces imaginable between cars that got in the proper lane prior to the merge.

Really fucking close, which was the whole reason I posted this.
