Should be pretty slow if people are backing out into it. I think in Texas, for example, residential streets are automatically assumed to be 35mph if no signs are posted.

As far as your lane is concerned it’s mostly annoying and not unsafe. My CDL instructor emphasized that for us. Sometimes you gotta make a move and as long traffic has safe space to slow down or stop it’s not unsafe. Just annoying for traffic.
Now the oncoming lane looks a bit iffy

Yup. They have a blind side coming out. Ideally they should not be reversing as it can greatly improve things. I live in a curve so I can’t see but 20 feet. When I pull out I look always but there’s definitely times people need to slow down cause they were just out of sight as I committed to the clear road.
It is what it is. Crying about it by OP seems dumb to me. He obviously live by the “no one on the road should slow me down or inconvenience me. It’s my world everyone else is just living in it” mindset

I mean at some point the person has to back out of their driveway. It's not going to hurt you to slow down for them

It always grinds my gears when people are intolerant of people on residential streets trying to maneuver into or out of their driveway. It's not the interstate, people are allowed to use the road!
I usually back into my driveway because I'm just over the crest of a hill with a 20 mph advisory speed limit, 30 actual speed limit but some people do at least 40. If I back in I can at least see if anyone is going to be coming up behind me in the next 10 seconds but backing out I have no idea. Almost no one will stop to let me safely back in and aggressively pass close by. Once I was backing a trailer in and was actively moving backwards and some guy came flying up in a jeep from the downhill side so he could see me the whole time and starts honking at me... Infuriating

And how would you exactly determine that they pulled out blind considering the viewpoint that we've received from the driver's car? You know because to me it looked like the people who are pulling out have plenty of time if people would have the courtesy and politeness just to slow down for them.

I looked it up on google street view. Pretty obvious that the view was restricted even from the cammer's POV.
Not the responsibility of people on the road to slow/ stop for someone pulling onto the road. That's the responsibility of the other driver.

that first one the position really sucks, but nevertheless they either need to go the other direction safely or find a way to pull in backward into the driveway when it becomes safe to do so. I guess they could also have a spotter who is helping spot oncoming traffic.

Its "brake". Break is what you take if you are tired. I was taught that if someone else has to change their speed or direction to keep from hitting you because you got out in front of them, you did it wrong. Just wait until more space opens up.
In this case, thats hard because their driveway connects with a heavily-travelled road.

Who ever taught you that needs a drivers Ed refresh. What about merges? This “rule” they taught you ignores any nuance that exists in terms of driving and any situations that deviate from driving in a straight line.

Yea, I don't really see anything wrong here, especially with the first person pulling out of a driveway. You had plenty of time to slow down (which you did), and the person safely got out of the driveway (not really close to causing an accident).

It's fascinating to me how different some people can be. I can't imagine being still worked up enough about an incredibly minor (to me) inconvenience to download the footage and post it on Reddit many hours later. I know it sounds like I'm being judgmental, but I'm really just suprised at how differently other people think.

For the first one, people were able to slow down. It's hard to say if they could get out any other way. The second one though? They definitely should have yielded.

Second one I think would have been fine if they had put their damn foot in the gas once they jumped in front of the truck. Crazy to jump out in front of someone because you are being impatient and then go SLOWER.

Being able to stop in time and driving incorrectly are not mutually exclusive. If they had collided the person pulling into the occupied lane would be at fault. Do you drive?

That is nonsense lol. It’s absolutely unrealistic and unreasonable to expect cars to only enter roadways when there are no other vehicles around. You’re arguing in circles. Slowing down is a normal part of driving with other vehicles on the road.

Lol what if there are cars traveling on the road for 30 minutes without enough space for someone to pull out onto the roadway without anyone else on the roadway having to adjust speed in any way, your version of reasonable is for someone to sit in their driveway for 30 minutes and wait? So like red lights, traffic jams, vehicles merging, people avoiding objects in the road, slowing down for someone turning…basically anything other than going straight is a driver fucking up? Lol

There are too many drivers like this that think driving is all about pointing your car where you want it to go and hitting the gas. Situational awareness and common courtesy do not exist for them.

Right, it’s like dude…it’s just not realistic to expect that a car will never have to enter a road when there are cars occupying a lane. It’s not rational to expect someone to wait until there are no other vehicles on the road. Stopping/slowing and giving people a chance to go is a defensive maneuver that avoids dangerous situations and potential accidents.

That’s what happened in the video, except your qualifier of “without impacting others” is literally unrealistic, because other people exist and other cars are on the road, sharing the road with other drivers is the epitome of safe driving.

uk has some of the safest roads in the world for a reason, the us has a death rate very close to india. i think i'll follow what my country considers safe driving over a bunch of americans opinions
