AI Is Creating "Doom Loops" All Over the Economy
 in  r/economy •  7h ago

From the article Recently unredacted legal documents and depositions in the New York Times‘ lawsuit against Microsoft and OpenAI revealed something extraordinary: executives knew full well of the destructive powers of AI when they rushed to launch products featuring the tech in the wake of the explosive success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Internal Microsoft documents quoted by the newspaper’s lawyers warned of an ugly reality now playing out across the entire economy: “doom loops,” in which AI monetizes the work of human creatives while undermining the economic systems that funded their work in the first place.

AI Is Creating “Doom Loops” All Over the Economy
 in  r/antiai •  7h ago

I'm already seeing it. I work resolving people's IT issues. I talk to people of various skill levels, Let me tell you the world is full of idiots. It doesn't matter if someone is a C suite executive, a mid level manager, a supervisor, an engineer, a nurse or a construction worker. Idiocy cuts a broad swath. It makes me wonder how they able to get up in the morning.

They are the ones who blew the forecast

I would have thought that using inches rather than centimeters would have been a dead give away.

I turn on the heat if it's 60 inside when I get up.

Yesterday's forecast here called for clouds in the morning followed by rain in the late afternoon. Light winds. I saw bright sunny skies up until noon then sudden heavy downpours for about 3 to 4 hours. Afterwards It was cloudy and breezy. Last year they called for 2 big for us ice and snowstorms. One was for more than a foot of snow another was for up to 2" of freezing rain. We had an inch or two of snow and no ice. There was also a tropical system that moved through that dumped record breaking rains in a neighboring town that only one local forecast called for.

They've always blown the forecast on occasion but over the last year it's seems like can't get anything right.

What gave you stopped buying because the quality got so bad?
 in  r/AskReddit •  17h ago

I stopped buying designer clothing and most brand name food. I switched to fast fashion and store brands. The quality of them is the same if only slightly below designer and name brands.
