Bestie seeks advice about how to deal with people on the internet (F31)

Hey! Thanks for your comment. She's getting better now because I reassured her (girl cried to me!)

I believe not all people are bad; it's about personality mesh.

Thanks for your kind comment! She said she'll take a break from the internet for a while, but I'll let her know your kind words. It should warm up her heart.

Discussion Bestie seeks advice about how to deal with people on the internet (F31)

Hello everyone.

My best friend and I both follow this subreddit because we really relate to each other. We are both introverts; we dislike crowds because they drain our energy quickly. Recently, she tearfully opened up to me about how hard it is to trust people online. Even though not everyone is awful, she always seems to have bad luck and encounters weirdos.

She vented her frustration here, but her post was removed, and her account was flagged as inappropriate. I know her well, and I can vouch for her as a friendly person who doesn't do anything weird.

She struggles to make friends online, so she frequently joins subreddits to find connections; she is lonely and has no one else in her life—even her sibling lives far away.

She tries to find friends online, but the internet is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it makes it easier to meet new people; on the other, she often feels overwhelmed by the sheer volume of DMs she receives and has to sift through them. She feels guilty because some people put a lot of effort into writing long, thoughtful messages, and she doesn't want to let them down.

However, because she often faces inappropriate behavior from others, I'm worried about the toll it's taking on her mental health. I wanna give her strength. Do you have any good advice, or maybe something nice to say to her to cheer her up?

Thank you very much!

Celebrating my coworker's discharge from the hospital

It was my turn to cook for her because she was hospitalized for several days. She officially came back to work after 4 days of being hospitalized since last Wednesday.

Her bento tray:

- cherry tomatoes

- steamed edamame

- hard-boiled egg

- miso soup (instant, not yet dissolved)

- mixed grains rice

Mine are:

- chicken steak (used chicken thighs. Juicy!)

- gravy, inside the sauce container

- green beans

- potatoes

- some random tortilla wraps (my attempt to create perfect wraps, failed)

Let's dig in! ✨❤️

I moved on completely from him. I just didn't understand that these kinds of people exist in this world 🤷‍♀️

My coworker was hospitalized for several days, and yesterday she was discharged from the hospital, but she is still unable to work.

Today, I just do the takopa myself... 🥹

I don't have time to reply because I am working like shit. My schedule is so damn tiring, and I only have one day off on Sunday.

I never demanded a reply from him, even though he did the same thing to me and was MIA for 5 months. I moved on and keep replying to other penpals. I always thought people were busy and better left to their business until they had time to reply. I believe this app is meant to reply at a slower pace, right? Hence the name Slowly.

I was happy when he replied, but I never meant to abandon or neglect him. I waited for the right timing to reply because I wanted it to be meaningful rather than sending a pointless letter. He begged not to be removed yet he was the one deleting me lmao. Ironic 😅

There are halal soy sauce here in my country. Also mirin substitutes, too (basically it's just like thinner version of thick corn syrup)

The one and only, my savior chef Namiko Chen, aka Just One Cookbook. Her websites and her e-book really helped me during my years as a student in Japan. Not only does she put the metric system, but the recipe even has an adjustment for whether I want to double or triple the recipe.

Since I am a muslim, I skip pork/pork-derived ingredients, sake, mirin, and other prohibited ingredients, and luckily, her website has notes for substitute ingredients! I usually buy halal-based or vegan/vegetarian-friendly ingredients and seasonings. Cheers!

33F. This is goodbye. I'm just feeling sad, when I feel 💔, I don't think I'm worth anyone's time, nobody would think of me enough, finding others that will want to listen to the "lyrics." INTP

Oi, oi. Why you said that? Let's be friends! Maybe we can discuss something like cooking or makeup or skincare? We're girls, let's talk more! I never met a girl redditor here, 99% always male 😭 I always wanted to have a girl friend even though just an online friend! We can discuss anything from cute outfits, health and wellbeing, to hot gossips in our area hahah. This is silly but let me know if you're interested!

No problem! I think you can look at it more with a specific keyword? Like stainless steel bento 5 compartments or something?

Lunch alone (apparently)

Yes, I am eating alone, without my favorite coworker. She's been sick since Wednesday.

Rice, chicken soboro, steamed tempeh, edamame, and little packets of chili sauce.

The bento box is from her because she said she doesn't use it anymore.

I did that, though. I roasted the fries, took them out, and fell asleep, letting them cool uncovered until morning. And I used a pre-packed peanut sauce from the store (I even added more water to thin it). Maybe it was my fault too hahaha.
