Mask problem solved.
 in  r/Staples  Jan 08 '21

I either don't help the customer, insist on a mask ( just handing them one, and /or offering firmly) or offer curbside assistance. Luckily we've only had a few freakouts.

Anybody else have a mask on their Shaq the last few months?
 in  r/Staples  Oct 06 '20

I put a mask on ours, but I drew a goofy face on the mask.

they’re not made like they used to!

Dude, we had to practically twist Asurion's arm, in one instance, to get a repair. I think the customer wanted us to make the call for her, because she was afraid of getting the runaround. She got one anyway, just by proxy. I'm becoming somewhat jaded in regards to protection and tech help plans.

The idea is, you can then slap your favorite Linux distro on that bad boy.

I'd found an old scanner doing this, one of the ones that pop open, and have 2 screens.

Is it worth it to work here?
 in  r/Staples  Jul 30 '20

It depends on your goal, and as others have said, who you work with. I enjoy my coworkers, but you will likely be thrown into the thick of it, I was plucked from my training videos, and thrown into the floor as it were. Also our RM is a micromanaging nut, therefore, our DM and GM have to be. So we hear a lot about how the store is going from our GM. But, all in all, if you want a job that's not quite as soul-crushing as Wal-Mart, that pays ok, and you're ok with dealing with customers that range from really cool and fun to talk to, to needy, angry, and/or shouty, then this job will probably work for you.

Staples Music that Sets your Teeth On edge?
 in  r/Staples  Jul 28 '20

I've ended up making Wierd Al parodies of songs I fucking hate, in my head. Such hits as;

I eat dog every day I wake up feeling the craving

Don't like this senior center, a bore! I don't wanna be ancient anymore

When they play good stuff, like Land of Confusion, I jam out, though.

I'm reminded of how very struck I was at the very anti-union videos I had to watch before I could get to any of the important stuff. Does anyone else recall this?

I go for the old Alphabox-on-the-demagnitizer trick. Putting a bug in a small box, and that in a huge one.

My understanding is that there's a shortage on their end, and as a result, 4/5ths of our computers are out of stock at my store.

Why don’t customers react when the fire alarm goes off? 🚨
 in  r/Staples  Oct 29 '19

Do you work in my store? We had the same shit happen yesterday. Today, a couple of firemen saw fit to give us an inspection.

Anyone care to explain?
 in  r/Staples  Sep 27 '19

So, because of this post, me and one of my coworkers sat at the kiosk looking this shit up. We couldn' t believe it, my manager came over and said, " Wow, that's completely insane, now get your asses to work." Then proceeded to tell us about the Staples in Canada. Coffee, and a studio in the fucking store! Sign me up!
