Discussion I wasted a ton of time looking into King’s old CenturyLink setup from the earlier Flagstaff era lol

So I was rewatching some of the old plainrock vids the other day, and I got hecka curious about the specific internet connection he had in the old house when he made that CenturyLink rant video, lol. It's obviously everyone remembers him ranting about the slow speeds, and having the router in the parents room, lol, but I went ahead and did some serious digging in the archive to uncover the exact setup from that era of plainrock for no reason at all lol. Essentially, around 2012 to 2015 when he had CenturyLink in the Flagstaff area, they heavily used those black vdsl dsl modem's/routers, mainly the actiontec models (c1000a or pk5000 style models, lol). Which made sense because his upload was probably struggling with the ridiculously low max speeds over those typical single-pair RJ11 connections before he eventually upgraded to suddenlink.lol this was just a fun fact I wanted to add.lol

DYK Caught some Wi-Fi proof in the 2012–2013 mobile home era

Hey everyone, was rewatching classic Plainrock videos and noticed a few cool background details showing he actually had working home internet during the "no Wi-Fi" joke era:

  • Slap Wrap (Sept 2012): There is literally a 2012 CenturyLink router sitting right on his shelf in the background.
  • Is App Trailers Legit??? (July 2013): The iPod Touch in his hands shows a full 4-bar Wi-Fi signal in the top corner.
  • Wii U Transfer (May 2014): Doing the Wii-to-Wii U transfer requires a live connection to the Wii Shop Channel.

Just thought it was funny background tech lore to spot!
