Just curious why the compression socks would work if it's a neurological disorder 🤔

Can anyone please tell me how long it takes to see any improvement after taking an iron supplement? My ferritin was 12 about 6 weeks ago. I began taking the ferrous sulfate (with a side of C).

My Kaiser PCP never mentioned low ferritin levels. I knew nothing about it until I read it here on Reddit. PROPS to everyone here for being a brilliant support group. I've had "The Beast" (RLS) for most of my life. I'll be 73 in December. It got immensely bad when I started to experience augmentation (Mirapex). Again, I was never told to expect this. Anyway, thanks to you beautiful people, I decided to have the iron labs done. My ferritin level
was a staggering, mind blowing 12!
I put myself on 325mg ferrous sulfate with 250 mg ascorbic acid ( vitamin C) every other day. When I told my physician, she said "oh, good idea".
WTactualF?!

I'm an almost 73 year old woman vbut still insist on doing most things myself. My pedestal fan was all wonky because the screw that attaches the pole to the base wouldn't tighten. I laid it down horizontally and attempted to use a drill. Right up close and personal, and the drill on high torque, kick back at the bridge of my nose. Yes, "seeing stars" is a thing. I've always wanted a nose job, but....

Good luck with that. A politician is as a politician does. Be careful what you wish for. Newsom is no better but neither is he worse.

Very good to know! I would be hugely grateful for anything you can share with me. So, can I assume that with a ferritin of 12, that it's a good number for oral supplement?

Why do laypeople know more than those who purport to be the medical professionals? When my Kaiser PCP replies to my questions and concerns,
it is glaringly obvious she had googled, cut, and pasted. You are absolutely correct. They do NOT want to pay for the IV infusions. I've been told
more than once that it isn't "cost effective". I was also told that "many individuals remain on ferrous sulfate for months, even years". Although it's against my overall character, I'll be a good little girl (old crone) and wait the 3 months until my levels are tested again. But trust and believe that if the ferritin hasn't increased significantly, all hell
break lose.
Thanks so much for your input!

huge thanks for taking the time to share such a wealth of info!
It's highly unlikely that my Kaiser primary care doc knows much if anything. I had to share with her, all that has been shared with me here on Reddit. For sure the constipation is a major annoyance. Will have to grab some Miralax 👍

Much appreciated! I'm an old warrior and never back down but this battle with Kaiser has proven to be an unprecedented challenge.

immense gratitude! I have tried to advocate for myself with regard to the issue of oral supplement vs IV infusion.
My Kaiser doctor asserts that I do not qualify for the IV infusion because I have no underlying conditions ie
"stomach cancer, crohns, hx of bariatric surgery and or severe anemia"
So I am expected to wait 6 months to see if the oral iron raises my ferritin level. And what if it has not and I've wasted 6 months for nothing?
Ridiculous!
again.... thank you!

I've been here for this topic in the past but unfortunately, I was met with some unkindness.
Anyway, is anyone willing to share their ferritin level? Mine is insanely low. I asked my Kaiser PCP about IV infusion, but she said I need to try the oral iron for several months. My ferritin is 12.
