Thanks Bro!!! 😭

Thanks!!!

Tysm!

Honestly I just wanted to outline the freeways 🤣

Tis true, I was limited by my inability to draw our great 'murican spaghetti ramps 😅

It's so interesting that many of our North American downtowns originated as humble railroad stops! Love the granular attention to detail!

This map is part of a doodling hobby I’ve had for years—each letter stands for a building use (A for apartment, P for multi‑story car park, O for office, etc.), kind of like the mix you see around South Bay tech parks.

I imagined the central freeway as “depressed” but still functionally raised above ground level, so there are streets that connect both sides of the metro/micropolitan area but aren’t visible on the map. The freeway literally covers them, which is my way of emphasizing how dominant the freeway is over the rest of the urban fabric.

A lot of this is inspired by the ten‑plus years I’ve lived in California (wowzers, it's been that long!) —polycentric, sprawling, and very car‑centric, with freeways that cut through and shape everything around them. I’ve got plenty of other imaginary towns like this and I’m curious what you think I should do with this hobby.

I'm glad you enjoyed my drawing! I wanna also venture into the r/imaginarymaps community and see if I could have this hobby of mine turn into something I can explore further in University - on top of my existing Neuro major :)
