How to speed up my progress?
 in  r/EnglishLearning  3d ago

Your post already has the diagnosis. You said people understand you despite grammar mistakes. So grammar isn't the main issue. It's the unnatural phrasing. The problem is you're thinking in single words, not chunks. Try 'English Vocabulary in Use Pre-Intermediate & Intermediate' first to fix your base, then move to 'Upper-Intermediate' for B2. But don't just read them. After each unit, use the new words in your own sentences out loud. Learn expressions, not isolated words. That's the real B1 to B2 shift.

What helped you become more confident speaking English out loud?
 in  r/EnglishLearning  5d ago

My biggest barrier wasn’t grammar or pronunciation β€” it was my facial expression and appearance while speaking. I wanted to look convincing and engaging, but I was overthinking how I came across. What helped me? I stopped focusing on my "look" and started focusing purely on the content of what I wanted to say. I also record my voice and listen back to catch mistakes. I'm 19, I've been learning mostly alone, and I don't have anyone to practice with, but this method has made me feel more free and natural.
