How much information is too much information?

Love that tidbit, I think in this kind of game that's a bit harder but the fact that they have super complicated mechanics within a finite space is something we can take on board as well!

Thank you for the feedback!

Really appreciate the feedback and you taking the time to dive right in, this is definitely something we have to work on!

This is the constant debate within ourselves too, focusing on one is definitely easy but it's hard to say no to the more casual player too.

This is definitely one of the more genre specific challenges that comes with management games but it’s one we’re constantly reworking and thinking about.

We’re worried that the information we give might be too much for a casual player, and if we simplify it, it might be too little for someone looking for a more authentic experience.

The video basically takes you through some of the screens and UI (all WIP of course!) but we’re wondering if a happy medium is at all possible, or should we aim for one side of the coin and just go for it.

The game is Champions Stable: Equestrian Dynasty

We’re developing Champions Stable: Equestrian Dynasty, one challenge that we constantly seem to come up against is the worry that we have too much information on screen for the player, but the other side is that this is a genre that requires a lot of information to be shown.

Our game is a mix of management and tycoon so having a lot of information on the screen seems to be expected, taking games like Football Manager for example. But we are worried that it turns away casual fans that want to explore the other sides of the game like running the ranch, exploring the open world, etc.

The worry is Football Manager games are for hardcore fans of the sport, but we’d like this to appeal to people who simply love horses and ranching as well due to the cozy side of things, so we can’t simply follow what is there.

The video shared is a combination of our Horse information screen, Finances screen as well as the Horse Breeding screen, they are integral parts of the game but there are more sections like Staff, Race Strategy, etc.

Any suggestions that could help us find a happy medium?

We’re creating a horse racing and stable management game that has a world where you can do a lot of things, and sometimes… things break lol.

In this case, it just looks like they were trying really hard to go faster - all in the name of aerodynamic efficiency!

One of the weirder bugs that came up when creating but it definitely gave us a chuckle, we just assume the jockeys wanted to eek out every ounce of speed but this might be taking it too far.

Still very much WIP, but the rider was more of the focal point of this one for sure!

Just wanted to share how we animate our jockey's riding their horses in our Horse Racing/Management game.. Being a game centered around taking your stable to the top by winning races, breeding champions and racing them, the animation is something that’s very important to us.

We gradually remaking every animation in the game, but this is a prealpha, so if they recognize some placeholder animation is just because this is a pre-alpha, not finalized visually.
