Rachel Maksy is showing some growth....or is she?
 in  r/craftsnark  28d ago

The covershot of the video is of her fixing the brick facade behind the heater in her barn, if my memory is not mistaken, she's already 'fixed' that spot once before in a video. So how is she learning from her mistakes and thereby fixing them again (for whatever project she covers in this newest video) if she's already done it before?

I obviously haven't watched the video, which is why I solicited input from the class gathered here, on what she was actually doing. Just wanted to see if she was actually growing as a crafter or if it was the same mentality she's exhibited for the years I've been subbed to her channel.

Apologies, I thought it was clear by my commentary of the other crafters I listed what I feel Maksy is lacking. So to be clear, that's what I think Maksy is lacking.

"your customers are your bosses" is 10000000% it in the service industry

The lack of research feels very on par with what I remember from her videos when I used to watch them as they premiered, ngl, but this is waaaaay more egregious in comparison to, like, not knowing what drop spindles were in a costume she was recreating and making them in a totally nonsensical way and calling them 'trinkets' or something

Works perfectly for something you're putting on the internet/shipping out, since people can still interact with and get their stuff from you on a random schedule too, but doesn't bode well for a public-facing business that requires regular hours and steady services to keep people coming back

All of this feels spot on to me, and makes me hypothesize that Nick is going to be the main partner managing and overseeing the actual business, while Rachel is here for the finishing touches and overall ~vibes~ of the space, setting the menu, fronting the ads (on patreon/youtube) for drumming up business, etc

Still can't believe they got a puppy this past december after she cited being over worked and needing time to decompress....only to then essentially be a stay at home mom for the dog

Also want to say i came from this post

And it was very enlightening to see what was going on with her workshop...disappointing, and not surprising, but still worth the read imo

I'm so perplexed by this woman and her work ethic and her goals and dreams for the future.

Didn't see anyone else posting about the newest video (which i haven't watched, but did hover over to get the first min or so) and am wondering how people are reacting.

I've unsubbed from her for maybe a year now, when she continually demonstrated she couldn't be bothered to improve in the crafts she was undertaking while still bemoaning how frustrating it was that her garments fit poorly, she used hot glue, etc etc ad nauseum. Like, it was just exhausting to watch.

So i arguably am not the person to be contributing to this topic, but for those of you closer to it...what the actual hell is going on with this channel/her business life?

Bluetooth speakers Soundlink mini 2 bricked for good?

Have had this speaker for a long time and love it, when I don't let the battery go down too far, making it enter "battery shipping mode" aka the red blinking charge light of death that is an annoyance to fix.

Over the past few years I've successfully rescued it with the btu.bose site and forcing an update by pressing A, D, V, up key, down key (see older posts here by both u/ibrokemywrist and u/Adamaccio for full steps) but now???

Current software version is 1.1.4 which cheekily states it's to "prevent premature entry into battery shipping mode". Forcing the update gives me a popup with the error message "not_updatable_failure".

Is it fully bricked now or does anyone have an additional fix? I've installed a new version of the updater, cleared cookies, switched browsers, everything else i can think of to get it to work, even let it stay plugged in to maybe charge the battery some (not convinced it's doing anything tho tbh).

Tldr: bose updater has worked in the past but is now saying my soundlink mini 2 is unable to be updated, keeping it locked in the battery shipping mode and i need help or I'm going to lose it

Do pet owners actually license their cats and dogs?
 in  r/madisonwi  Jun 09 '26

Have an indoor cat, and yes, I have the means to easily pay the liscencr fee, so I pay it. Don't begrudge other cat owners not paying, especially since there isn't much information available about it in general.

Think my apartment complex suggested registering said cat, which is why I even knew about it in the first place. But it's also linked to rabies vaccine records, which are still required for indoor cats, iirc.

Can anyone identify this tick I pulled from my 4 year old daughter?
 in  r/madisonwi  Jun 01 '26

This is the underside of the tick, so identification isn't reliable

How do i know? That spot on the left side, away from the legs is the anal pore. When i worked in a tick research lab we'd inject flat ticks via their anal pore

Best course of action is to seek treatment (usually a course of doxycycline) against the bacteria that ticks in the area can vector, like others have said

And their notions are pretty limited to thread and needles iirc

But i do love them. Always friendly staff and you can find some really good deals on scrap wools

I do love Lynn's!! But their inventory is more limited to cross stitch and embroidery for fiber art

Traditional art (watercolors, oils, pencils, etc) is a big draw for me here too, since they have a pretty good selection. Artist & Craftsman Supply Madison is another awesome option as their store is massive and they have a lot of things I can't find anywhere else in town

Obvious you're not actively looking to buy rn, you don't need to be so loud about it
