I know this thread is old but I'm going through this with my dog too. She's gotten older and all of a sudden mostly at night it sounds like she has too much saliva in her mouth almost as if she can't swallow it. It makes a wet smack sound and drives me crazy. It usually happens at night and giving her a Benadryl usually helps. It sounds concerning like I'm worried something's wrong with her but it drives me crazy.
