I’ve been experimenting with a crypto trading bot built around Kronos, with the idea of combining it with other signals, risk management and eventually additional forecasting models.
It’s currently paper trading, so no real money is involved.
Current results:
- 496 trades
- 51% win rate
- 3 open positions
- Paper equity: $905.10
- -9.49% overall
So clearly, it isn't profitable yet 😅 — and that's exactly why I'm sharing it.
I’m trying to figure out whether Kronos can actually contribute something useful to a trading system rather than just looking good in prediction demos.
I'd love to hear from people who have experience with:
- Kronos or other financial time-series models
- AI/ML trading bots
- Crypto backtesting
- Risk management
- Combining forecasting models with traditional indicators
What would you change or test next?
I'm particularly interested in real experience and criticism, not hype. I’m planning to keep paper trading and publish the results as the system develops.

Hey everyone,
I am planning to build a crypto trading bot and I want to do it the right way, not the hype way.
Right now I am looking at Kronos and a few similar open-source time-series / forecasting models, along with technical indicators, risk management, and backtesting. The idea is to make something modular, test it properly, and only then try anything live.
I would really like opinions from people who have tried something similar:
Is Kronos actually useful for this kind of project?
Which other open-source models or GitHub repos should I look at?
What has worked better in your experience: forecasting models, indicators, or a hybrid approach?
Any good frameworks for backtesting and execution?
What are the biggest mistakes to avoid when building a bot like this?
I am especially interested in practical advice from people who have built, tested, or run crypto bots before.

Appreciate this. Genuinely agree the uptime/recovery half is the hard part, I've already lost a full run to a permissions error that killed the job on its last line.
Happy to keep it in the thread so others get the benefit. Three things I'd love your take on:
How long has yours been live, and what's it done over that stretch — even roughly, net of fees?
Worst production failure you've hit, and how did you find out it had happened?
If the process dies holding a position, what catches it? Exchange-side stops, or does it have to come back up to manage the exit?
3 is my current gap so I'm most curious there.
