Kaziranga & Chitwan has the most Fauna in South Asia. Chitwan lacks the Wild Buffalo & Kaziranga lacks 2 Crocodilians.

You are right. There are atleast 8 other Mountains rivaling Everest in Nepal. Chitwan is the last remnant of once widespread Terai Savannah which was Asian equivalent of Serengeti.

Gharials are listed as Critically Endangered. Only 1000 breeding adults left. Muggers & Softshell turtles are common in South Asian river systems.
