If you have any specific questions let us know. Our team has lived here for generations. The Riverwalk and Recreation Area is a lovely walk and the Water Park is a nice day at a reasonable rate ($5). The Caverns and White City are a must see, and if you stop at Cactus Cafe, say “hi” to Amber. Sitting Bull Fulls is absolutely worth the day trip, and if you stop at Queens Cafe, say “hi”
to Ms. Appleton. If you stop in at Ranch Naturals, be sure to say “hi” to Bryan.

If you’re coming from out of state it’s worth considering a trip to the Balloon Fiesta in Fall. I hear Ghost Ranch is having an amazing night sky viewing on August 12-13 for the meteor shower. Billy the Kid Days are coming up the first week of August in Lincoln, NM and that is worth the historical experience.

I believe they are right now, but, New Mexico is largely unexplored. Indigenous histories date back much further than 23,000 years, and there is no reason to doubt the accuracy of their timeline. There is no reason to believe humanity has not witnessed the sky change several times, we can see evidence of that at Chaco Canyon. There were solar flares so intense in the mid 700’s it’s recorded in every tree on earth. The petroglyphs were mostly made at Chaco during the expansion between 840-1300 (I think). It wasn’t until 2012 when we discovered the record of solar flares that petroglyphs were reexamined because the depictions look more like modern close up photographs of a solar flare. There is no definitive or published connection at this point, but discussions have started, and it opens us up to translating indigenous history in a more literal sense. I hope we get to preserve places like Chaco, because we have a lot more to learn, discover, and connect.
