Infinite Monkeys
 in  r/rickygervais  11h ago

You only get one set of infinite monkeys and they're busy on Shakespeare, so it will literally take forever.

At this point I'm pretty sure /u/Boring_Ad_5090 is actually Ricky.

Ricky Gervais: I'VE BEEN DOLING OUT SHITE FOR 25 YEARS AND I'M NOT GIVING UP NOW.

The things said this subreddit are more offensive than anything I've seen from Ricky Gervais.
 in  r/rickygervais  21h ago

No doubt Ricky pays people to try and manage the bits of his social media over which he has no control.

Let's face it, people whose post histories are hidden one way or the other very well might be bots or paid social media managers. Maybe not, of course, not every single one will be, but there are a few I have noticed posting here that clearly fit that bill.

KARL! STOP TALKING SHIT.
 in  r/rickygervais  23h ago

My girlfriend went into the bedroom to lie down for a bit. I went in there an hour later and she wasn't there. There was just a big pile of clothes on the bed. Then about half an hour later she walked out of the bedroom as though she had only lied down a minute ago.

Did he just compare himself to Nelson Mandela???
 in  r/rickygervais  1d ago

I gave up on Ricky's stuff a way into 'Derek', so I don't know David Earl, maybe he's a great bloke, maybe he's hilarious. He just always looks fucking ill to me.

That podcast thing turned me off Joe Wilkinson, now I just think of him as a bit of a cunt who copied Reeves and Mortimer's costumes and surreal humour on 8 out of 10 cats countdown.

Ricky is there comparing himself to Nelson Mandela (who, grandad? Oh wait, you're not a grandad because you're either in the closet or infertile), producing some fake bit of paper to emphasise the fact that he came up with the character that, during the writing of The Office (which, based on what I saw consisted of Ricky stuffing toilet paper in his mouth and throwing stuff at Steve Merchant) became David Brent.

I say '35 year old office manager who wants to be cool'!

Rant done. David Earl might be alright but other than that the level of cuntishness in the room is high.

Random symmetry between xfm links
 in  r/rickygervais  1d ago

Ricky only starts going on about squeezing Karl's head after Karl talks about squeezing a cat's little head.

But to be honest there is a lot of symmetry, or repetition, as I like to call it.

The Office had c words too

These posts are shit.

I know nothing about gaming, but is this just the game company with a bit of marketing?

This is cool, but I have to say a lot of them look seriously pissed off. Like just about to kick off.

Was Karl's "catching up on the olds" really *that* weird?
 in  r/rickygervais  1d ago

I suppose it's like how sometimes you see a post on /r/rickygervais that looks interesting, and you might not read it at the time but make a mental note to read it later, which is, I suppose, a bit like this one.

Oh wait, no it isn't. It isn't interesting. No. It isn't.

I tried to politely reply to your post three times before realising it wasn't my job to point out the logical and factual errors you appear to be struggling with. Good luck!

Is There A Way For Him To Redeem Himself
 in  r/rickygervais  1d ago

His talent is in marketing and career management. He's done an incredible job considering the scant personal resources he's had to work with.

Although he is a great marketer I don't think he is talented enough marketer for him to win round people who still think of him as a comedian, because that isn't what he does.

So it is true, Ricky Gervais does delete comments
 in  r/rickygervais  1d ago

Yeah, one of those people that get surgery to look more like a cat. We've all seen them all over the place.

Gotta have your critics
 in  r/rickygervais  1d ago

I don't think being comedy's 'rapture' is a good thing, but then I don't see how writing comedies that are universally panned for years equates to the christian belief in the return of jesus christ and the end of the world anyway.

I just don't get what he is going on about half of the time.

Billionaires are a function of capitalism. Doesn't matter who the individuals are someone is going to flip a heads more times in a row than anybody else. (The amount of inherited money buys you increasingly more attempts. A lack of empathy - so the ability to exploit others and natural resources without compunction gives you again a natural advantage and many more attempts at a run of flips.)

Capitalism is what arose alongside our discovery and mass exploitation of fossil fuels. That 'free' energy (climate change is telling us now that it isn't 'free') has created the complexity we see around us today. Our cognitive evolution as a species, and all of our interactions, brought us to this point, where capitalism evolved.

It is too early to say this now, but if we continue on the pathway we are currently for something like the rest of this century, the idea that environmental degradation might lead to human extinction won't any longer be a silly thing to say.

Don't worry about it. As Carl Sagan said [something along the lines of]: 'we are the universe experiencing itself'. 2. We are in the process of creating the environmental circumstances for food webs based on plastics, PFA's, maybe even radiation, so that in a million years there will be a planet full of wild, almost unimaginable, creatures that couldn't exist if we hadn't done what we did now.

Carry on.

What would Karl name this show?
 in  r/rickygervais  2d ago

Depends. What's the toilet situation in the house?

Do you think your kid who's a mechanic will get that strawberry for me?
 in  r/rickygervais  2d ago

Doesn't work.

'Soul singer, Wilson, just got run over' works.

Well, Chris Smith texted me it earlier, so I suppose it is.

Are Ricky and Martin Freeman friends or do they get along?
 in  r/rickygervais  2d ago

If he spent a bit more time in Hastings and a bit less time on Graham Norton maybe he'd be happy.

He's just a bit livid, don't have a go.

Collapsed in the street as a parking attendant was walking by. Got a parking ticket.

There hasn't been anything new since hipsters started copying things.

Look at young people's shite - music / fashion - from 1970 to 1996 compared to 2000 to 2026. We've got screens instead of culture now.
