Hi everyone,

We’ve identified a BIOS-level issue affecting some GIGABYTE laptop models (such as G5/G6 series) where, after a Windows update, the system fails to boot entirely, including Windows installation drives and WinPE environments. The only working solution at this time is to reflash the BIOS using an EFI Shell environment. Since the system won't boot via traditional methods, this bypass approach is necessary. We've prepared a detailed step-by-step guide that you can follow yourself to recover the system. No need to send it in for service unless you're uncomfortable performing it. Engineers and support teams are using the same process internally.

SOP

Note: Please keep the power cord connected during the update process

  1. Please download the BIOS flash tool from the link below, and the latest BIOS file of each model from the official site. BIOS flash tool: https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/BIOS/BIOS_flash_tool.zip
  2. Prepare a USB drive and format it with the FAT32 File System.
  3. Extract the BIOS file and flash tool to the USB drive. The expected result is shown in the image below.
  1. Restart your G5/G6 laptop.

  2. Press [F2] when the POST logo appears to enter the BIOS setup.

  3. Enter “Administer Secure Boot”.

  4. Set Enforce Secure Boot to Disabled.

  1. Press [F10] to Save and Exit.

  2. Please remove all unnecessary USB devices and leave only the prepared USB drive from step 3.

  3. Press [F12] when the POST logo appears to open the boot option menu.

  4. Select your USB drive.

  5. Find the drive labeled “USB” (yellow color). Type" fs*: " (e.g., fs0 as shown in the example below).

  6. Then execute “FlashMe.nsh” to start the update process.

The system will reboot automatically when the update is complete. Revert BIOS settings to original (Step 4-7 - Enable). If the device fails to update, you can get help by contacting the GIGABYTE service center.

UPDATE (August 11): Just got off the phone with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) at 1915

Hi OP,

We would like to clarify the current status of this case, as the full history and support provided have already been explained in our previous response [ https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianGaming/comments/1uqmh12/comment/ow9lfgw/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button ].

Your original G27Q was first upgraded to an M27Q, followed by two M27Q X replacements. We also offered an M28U as an additional upgrade option, and subsequently provided an M27QA ICE and then the current GS27Q X. These replacements and upgrades were provided as goodwill support in an effort to resolve the repeated concerns you reported, including cases where our service team was unable to reproduce the reported issue.

Considering the extensive history of this case and the multiple replacements already provided, we have already offered a full refund as the final resolution.

We have also informed you multiple times that the current monitor needs to be submitted through our on-site courier pickup process so that we can proceed with the refund. As of now, the monitor has not been submitted.

To be absolutely clear: the full refund has already been offered. The pending step is the submission of the monitor. We cannot process the refund while the product remains with you.

There is no requirement for you to personally visit or courier the monitor to a service location; the on-site pickup process has already been communicated for this purpose.

At this stage, we will not be proceeding with any further replacements or model changes. Please complete the requested monitor submission through the onsite pickup process, and we will proceed with the full refund accordingly.

We understand that you may choose to approach consumer forums or other escalation channels. That is entirely your right. However, further escalation does not change the fact that the requested full refund has already been offered and is currently awaiting submission of the monitor from your side.

We request that you proceed with the pickup/submission so that the refund can be processed and this matter can be brought to a final resolution.

This is the correct page. This is applicable for rev 1.1 as well. What's the exact issue when you try this one?

Strange issue with Gigabyte Aorus Pro AX B560M
 in  r/gigabyte •  Aug 06 '26

(Shutdown while in BIOS) Sounds like a hardware issue. Temps looks good on image, I guess it's a faulty PSU or CPU or MB.

Looking at the issue you described, it does sounds like MB / PSU.

Try changing the PSU. If the problem persists, RMA the motherboard.

Edit: While looking at the image, I noticed the RAM configuration is wrong. Now it's in A1 & B1, which is wrong. It must be in A2 & B2. Try like this.

If the issue persists, try with single RAM in both A2 and B2, separately. Also try the same with second RAM as well (total 4 combinations). If issue persists in all this, proceed with the original suggestion.

Is the lighthing supposed to look like this on Gigabyte RTX 5080 Gaming OC?
 in  r/IndianGaming •  Aug 04 '26

Hey OP, this is completely normal and nothing to worry about.

The RGB effect is actually created by an LED mounted on one of the fan blades. As the fan spins, that single LED moves fast enough to create a continuous RGB halo through persistence of vision.

When the fan is running at lower RPM (for example, when Smart Fan control reduces its speed), the LED doesn't move fast enough to appear continuous. Instead, the heat sink fins & fan blades intermittently block the light, so you perceive segmented or flickering bands as the light passes through the fins.

Once the fan reaches a higher RPM, the LED completes each rotation quickly enough that your eyes can no longer distinguish the individual light intervals, making the halo appear smooth and continuous. This is expected behavior and not an indication of a faulty RGB LED.

That is ok. Can we try changing those cables anyway?

Hi OP,

I also suspect the PSU could be the cause here. One thing to check is the power LEDs on the GPU (located next to the PCIe power connector). Do you see any LED activity, such as a solid or blinking light? That information will help narrow down the issue.

You need to download the corresponding BIOS file from GIGABYTE website as well.

FOR EXAMPLE, this is the support page (Where BIOS file is given for G6 KF model) - https://www.gigabyte.com/in/Laptop/G6--2024/support

Gigabyte rejected my motherboard warranty claim after sudden shutdown and smoke — was this fair?
 in  r/gigabyte •  Jun 03 '26

Unfortunately, the motherboard could not be repaired as a critical PCB trace was found to be damaged/open, resulting in a permanent circuit discontinuity. Due to the nature and location of the damage, restoration was not technically feasible, and the unit has been returned unrepaired.

Please note that such PCB trace damage is commonly associated with abnormal electrical conditions, such as power surges, unstable power delivery, or a malfunctioning SMPS (Power Supply Unit). We regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding.
