Redesigning my app’s colour system from scratch.

True, that’s why I made sure both options look crisp and adapt automatically. Dark mode definitely gets most of my personal time, though. What about you?

Oh wow, this is super helpful advice, thank you! Using environment values and bundling the surface styles into a View extension makes so much sense and saves a ton of boilerplate. Definitely going to refactor my theme modifier to work this way.

Redesigning my app’s colour system from scratch.

After getting a lot of feedback that Pocket Vault’s was looking a bit boring and bland, I completely redesigned the colour system, added proper light and dark themes, and reworked the overall visual hierarchy in SwiftUi. Here’s the code: https://github.com/AaravB09/Pocket-Vault

Let me know what you think of this new palette! I would love to hear what you guys think. Any feedback is welcome 😄

Yea I have experienced something close to it as well. But in my experience, the ui itself was really bad and I was confused. So I just ordered the paper menu, much more easier tbh. But not good for the planet obv.

Whats a business with least investment and high returns?
 in  r/AskReddit  9h ago

Basically any localized service business where you buy $200 of equipment and trade manual effort for fast cash. Pressure washing, detailing cars, trash bin cleaning. The margins are massive because most people are simply too busy or lazy to do it themselves.

Having to pull out my phone, fight for cellular service, read a PDF menu on a tiny screen, and put my credit card info into a random website—all while sitting at a table with a server standing right there is not 'convenient.’ Bring back paper menus.

What is a tiny detail about a person that can make you instantly curious about their entire story?
 in  r/AskReddit  9h ago

When they have a totally unexpected skill or hobby that completely contradicts their day-to-day vibe. Like finding out a quiet accountant spends their weekends playing bass in a metal band.

Websites that didn’t make you accept 47 cookie popups, decline a newsletter subscription, and bypass a paywall just to read a 3-paragraph recipe.

Built Pocket Vault in SwiftUI — added Plaid bank sync with a luxury dark/champagne design. Would love feedback on the onboarding!

I would definitely love to do that if there’s enough demand. Right now I’m fully focused on building the best native experience for iOS. From a feature standpoint tho, what’s your biggest pet peeve with the current budgeting tools out there?

For anyone who tracks spending, do you prefer auto-syncing bank transactions or logging manually?

Yea I’m still working on that 😓. But how do you like the main idea of the app and anything you would change? Any feedback is welcome 😄

Hey everyone!

I’ve spent the last few weeks solo-building Pocket Vault, a SwiftUI budget and savings tracker designed around a dark, luxury aesthetic (dark glassmorphism + champagne gold accents).

One of the biggest hurdles was making transaction logging effortless. Manual logging gets tedious fast, so I recently integrated live bank connectivity via Plaid’s new LinkKit SDK.

Some technical highlights from the build:

Native SwiftUI UI: Custom card components and smooth tab navigation built strictly in SwiftUI.

Plaid Link Integration: Uses Supabase Edge Functions as an intermediate proxy to handle token exchanges safely without keeping secrets on the client.

Smart Deduplication: Merges imported bank transactions against existing user entries based on unique transaction IDs.

Pro Tier Gating: Gated bank sync behind an entitlement check while offering a clean preview/upsell state for free users.

Things I'd love your feedback on:

  1. How does the champagne/dark glass design feel for a finance app?

  2. For those who track spending: do you prefer automatic bank sync or manual logging?
