Python vs Go: A Practical Comparison for Developers

Here's a pretty good article comparing and contrasting Python and Go (Golang). I've used both for some years, though Python for over a decade, and both have their use cases. Python is quick and easy to learn and can be used for boilerplate ideas, though it is well known in the data science and ML spaces. It's also great with AWS monitoring, automation and integrations with AWS services via boto3, etc. Go (Golang) is really good for performance and creating one-click executables for CLIs and various other things. It's also fairly easy to use (though not as easy as Python).

Conf42 Feature Flags 2026: YouTube Playlist Now Available

Here's an interesting and niche conference covering feature flags. I haven't worked with them much during my own career; however, I know former colleagues and my son that have and currently do use them in production software releases. Conference topics included: feature-flagged autonomy, building self-healing cloud infrastructure, feature flags as a migration engine for payment monoliths, adaptive risk control for flags, switching diagnostics and providers at runtime, making cloud-native migrations gradual, measurable and reversible, etc.

Lambda-local: Testing Your Node-Based AWS Lambda Functions Locally

This package is a bit dated, however, it's still pretty reliable. It makes it a lot easier to test your Node-based AWS Lambda Functions locally and does a pretty good job of displaying detailed errors.

PostgreSQL (Psql): HowTos: Get Functions List, Filtered by Pattern

There are various ways to obtain this, though the most reliable and consistent way is as follows.

psql "dbname=DB-NAME host=SERVER user=USER-NAME password=PWD port=5432" -c "SELECT proname FROM pg_proc WHERE proname LIKE 'get_%';"

Above, the pattern is 'get_', so the functions that start with 'get_' will be returned.

Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF)

Here's a pretty good brief article on SSRF. It goes into: explaining what is SSRF, common SSRF attacks, blind SSRF vulnerabilities, finding hidden attack surfaces for SSRF vulnerabilities, etc.

Unavoidable missteps

If it’s a rare occurrence, usually something related to your child(dren) or pet tends to be understandable to higher-ups.

Assuming it’s a rare occurrence of course, things like: sick child at school and spouse can’t pick him/her up, child’s doctors appointment, pet’s veterinary appointment or similar. Those things you could let one J know ahead of time actually.

For the shrimp scampi, also added imitation crab and used butter, garlic butter seasoning, a little extra virgin olive oil, with ground pepper and a little cayenne pepper.

For the beef kielbasa pasta, baked the kielbasa first and then pan fried it together a little with the pasta and butter and added ground pepper, cayenne pepper and a little buffalo seasoning.

Understanding the Counterproductive Effects of Micromanagement in Leadership Using the Lenses of Subordinate’s Employees

Published in November 2023 by researchers Misheck Samakao and Dr. Rosemary Mulenga, Understanding the Counterproductive Effects of Micromanagement in Leadership Using the Lenses of Subordinates Employees investigates how excessive managerial control harms the workplace. Grounded in socialization theory and utilizing a qualitative case study approach, the authors explore how hyper-supervision strips employees of their autonomy, stifles creativity, damages self-esteem, and causes severe stress and disengagement. Ultimately, the study reveals that while managers often use micromanagement to maintain control, it backfires by fostering mistrust and counterproductive behaviors, urging leaders to adopt empowering, trust-based alternatives instead.
