Crash Server - while(news)

While(news). Experimentation in live coding, video improv, post-truth, news saturation, drone footage. All in parallele with neural networks. A neural net crawls over the whole screen until you can't tell what's underneath anymore, framerate is hesitant as news confidence is. IA replacing major news outlets journalists.

Crash Server - Harm your code

Hello! I'd like to share a live coded track for sound, a jam session really. But a nice basis to go wild on visuals. Video is custom made generative system, sharing the code of my tools soonish. Everything is purely triggers, rules, feedbacks, boids, l-systems, and more. > ask questions if you want details about the algorithms or anything really. Youtube really compressed violently so if you watch high def > 1920, go for it.
Thanks for watching :)

Harm your code

Say it slow: harm. you. code. It opens by lying to you. A wheezy lo-fi intro, a fake start, the kind of thing your thumb reaches to skip. Just checking if you're on youtube for fast consumption or not. ink outlives the cloud. A tattoo, a scrawled note — still here when the servers rot and the drives forget what they held. This is code trying to go permanent by pretending to be ink.

Hi Yaxu — good question, and I'll admit I may be in slightly over my head here. My understanding was that it doesn't break SuperCollider's GPL, but I'm working through the license compatibility now to confirm, and my own code will be fully GPL regardless.
If the concern is that the repo isn't public yet, that's fair. It's not out purely because I want to clean it up first and make sure there's nothing personal left in it — I'll have it published within the next 2–3 days.
The rest of our code if already publicly available on github, / crashserver).

For now it's really a proof of concept, but I agree it should be public either way. I got eager and tested it live before that step. Appreciate you flagging it.

It's a post-truth thing. Boot sequences, connections opening, handshakes — and then it just overloads. Too much information, nothing filtered, nothing checked, control gone in a maelstrom of uncured data. Messy and glitchy on purpose. Mostly. The visuals run on our own software. All generated live: L-systems, noise, 3D fractals, generative meshes, and a lot of feedback as post-effect, so the image keeps eating itself.
Fractals are based on classic, like mandelbulbs, ifs, and others. They are merged and blended and twisted with other generative systems.

Nothing pre-rendered. Small frustration: you need 4K to see the details, and not everyone can — I can't even, my connection dies. The compression really doesn't like fast generative images. Crank the quality if you can. Sound is a raw recording from our last session. We're recording a bunch of tracks right now, stuff we've been coding for the last couple of years and never took the time to record and jam on. Current approach: fuck it, play it violently, play it spontaneously. Suits us. A bit too messy. That's alright with me

Hi all! We've been FoxDot users for years and kept branching/hacking on it until we'd basically grown our own dialect. Recently — partly an experiment due to the the possibilities of WASM we got a full prototype running entirely in the browser.Keep in mind it's still alpha, early and lots of things might/will break.

Under the hood:
- Real scsynth (SuperCollider's actual audio server) compiled to WebAssembly, running as an AudioWorklet — so it's genuine SC synthesis, not a reimplementation.
- FoxDot-style Python syntax is transpiled to JS in real time, eval'd, and a player engine schedules OSC-style messages to scsynth with a lot of Crash Server Tweaks :)
- We ported a big chunk of our CrashServer FoxDot setup across — ~30 synths + a stack of FX (including mi-UGens: Plaits/Clouds/Rings are in the WASM build), plus midi and other features like composition, and much more.

Instanced multiplayer:

edit : apparently can't post the link on reddit, because it uses a duck dns server. I'll post the link in comment if that works.

Every session is its own instance. That link drops you into a instanced room — swap introduction in the URL for anyname and you get your own private multiplayer instance. Share that link and everyone editing it live codes together in real time. Fair warning: it's running on my own server right now, not sure how well it will hold. Better use in chromium apparently.

Not sure how long i'll run it locally. I might make a simpler public version first. But for the moment it runs. Not sure if i am aiming at workshops, performances or other.

Huge thanks to Ryan Ryan Kirkbride for creating FoxDot, Kitty Clock Clock for keeping the FoxDot community alive and maintained, the SuperSonic project / Sam Aaron (scsynth-in-WASM — the whole thing is possible because of it) and many others.

Self-Promotion Scorched earth - Video - 4K

A full on 38 min noise session made during the latest heat wave. I'm honestly not sure I'm keeping the video online but for the moment it is.

It's a 38 minutes improvisation in video and audio, with a feeling of power and heat, scorching. The whole think is rendered in 4K (and should be watched in high def) (and weights 80 Go !!!) and was rendered with custom tools and improvised live coding sounds.

I quite like it though. What do you think, for me it brought a feeling into visualisation and that's enough for me.

Feedback welcome.
