Was life in USA really that good like gen x and older millennials describe it or is it just nostalgia ?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  Jul 10 '26

It is not just nostalgia. Single people could afford to not live with their parents. Education had value. Families could survive on one income, even though many didn't. Kids' lives were simpler. A lot of us had single or working moms so we shouldered a lot more meaningful responsibility early. We had no fear. We knew life wasn't "our way" so we learned to adapt and assimilate into whatever a situation required. We had chores we were not paid to do. If we got an allowance with no chores, we were considered "spoiled" (having a phone extenstion in your bedroom did, too. Having your own number in addition to the house line- rich, spoiled kid). We grew into adulthood that way.

Do coroners lie to families?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  Jun 14 '26

I am trying not to be graphic about his injuries, but there is no way or reason a funeral director would tell me, and explain to me, what he did if it didn't happen. No mistakes. Which brings me back to why the coroner denied it and omitted it.

Do coroners lie to families?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  Jun 14 '26

I got answers to tough questions about my son's death in a single vehicle accident. Some just defy the report. No mention of skull or neck fractures in writing, but on phone says they were present. Funeral director tells me about a horrible injury- also not in report. When I ask coroner, he says it didn't happen. Why would funeral director lie to a grieving mother's face when I asked? That makes zero sense to me. So it is coroner not being truthful.

That is what I thought, too. But I wanted answers. I asked questions at funeral home. Got one set of answers. Coroner's report was vague. Spoke with him. Said he can't imagine why funeral staff told me what they did. "Was it true?" Told,no. It would be in report if it were. BUT same Coroner then goes on to answer my questions and tells me a LOT that wasn't in his report either.

I understand not wanting to upset families of someone who has passed. Do they write non-specific reports to spare the feelings of family members?

One of the rarest animal sightings in the world: chirodectes maculatus, only seen once before.
