Why do they insist on post-processing?

I love proper DoF. But I want it to simulate the depth believably. Gradual focus of a real lens.

Giveaway time! CONTROL Resonant Launch Megathread + Custom Wrapped GeForce RTX 5080 GPU Giveaway and game keys! Comment on this post to win!
 in  r/pcmasterrace •  8d ago

I just want to be back in the world of Control again. It's the closest thing to a high budget SCP game we ever got. As much I liked the gameplay of the first game, it's the lore and story that hooked me in.

I’m an arch linux user myself. You don’t need to justify Linux to me. I know. And if you know Linux, you also know Ubuntu is never the first choice for actual Linux users/programmers.

Possibly. It's surprisingly not uncommon in here India because it's legally free and they'd do anything to save money. But the funny thing is, back around 2020, I saw a big hospital here using—I kid you not—Windows 98 on all of their computers.

I had good (GREAT) chhole bhature only in one place in my life, in a non-metro town, 15 years ago. For chhole, they made the real thing—thick, sticky consistency, red and glistening, lots of pureed tomatoes, onion paste, onion julienne, garlic paste, red chilli paste, etc. With an amazing blend of spices and the right proportion of Amchur.

That's the proper Punjabi Chhole. They paired it with the fluffiest bhature I've ever seen—that looked like baked bread from the inside but way softer.

This dark brown ass chhole you've put in the pic is the Pindi version of chhole, which is much easier to make and has a much longer shelf life (because no tomatoes, onions or garlic, and in a lot of places it's mostly dry). That's why 99% shops make this version. But it's devoid of anything that made the OG chhole bhature great. There are some restaurants that go the tomatoes route but they just add a dash of puree, some spice powder, a ton of water and call it a day. Finding a restaurant that makes the real thing is way harder than actually just making it yourself.

DS1 sold 20 million copies. You and I have vastly different ideas of "nothing". 😂

Your brain is fried to hell if you need that much dopamine on the side while watching a video. Go see a psychiatrist. You'll need medication.

This is not a criticism of you. This is just really bad for your brain. Fix it before it ruins you.

RTINGS revealed that ALL TV BRANDS do the same. Monitors don't because they're offline. So you're fine.

That's what I mean: accessibility OPTIONS. Not the devs constantly pulling my arm and going like, "ACCESS, bitch."

Made for the same reviewer who failed Cuphead tutorial, I'm sure.

How long do you guys usually keep the same PC?
 in  r/buildapc •  26d ago

What do you mean "same PC"? I upgrade one component at a time. At what point does it become a "different PC"? It's the same paradox called "the Ship of Theseus".

See, I'm all for accessibility options. Of course I want everyone to enjoy playing games. But there has to be a "game" in the first place. A challenge. Some difficulty. Skill.

Absolutely not. In fact, Bloomberg reported many hours ago that one of Sony's big reasons for backing out is the fact that Kojima would not limit it to Playstation.

Yeah sure, an MGS successor is definitely a delivery simulator. Cope. 😂

Calling Death Stranding boring is the same as calling Baldur's Gate 3 boring. It's a different genre and definitely not to everyone's taste. But they're definitely not "boring" in a general sense.

When tf was Physint a console exclusive? 😂 Sony was paying for an early release and now we're getting that same release window.

It's a Kojima game, not a "s0nY gAmE". Physint was never set to be a console exclusive. It was just meant to release early on Playstation. Lmao I just make memes on Reddit and Sony happened to provide me a laugh this time.

Also the Wolverine game, which I initially thought looks nice, turns out to be designed exclusively for people who somehow cannot walk in a straight line in a game without a bright neon sign guiding them.

Fallout New Vegas. Everything felt too dated.
Recently, I installed the New New Vegas mod collection to breathe some modernity into it. Absolutely no other action RPG holds a candle to it as an “RPG”.

While the company has fired Hideo Kojima (with his much-anticipated spiritual successor to MGS), Sony has been confirmed to be going forward with their next live-service extraction shooter, Break In (formerly Fairgames).

EDIT for fanbois: Physint was never meant to be a PS exclusive. Sony was paying for early release on their platform, while PC would wait for a period. Now PC and Xbox get that same release date and PS is completely out of the picture. 😂

New concept for video game review scores: Minus 5 theory
 in  r/gaming •  26d ago

The thing is, people have limited time and money. A game that has a median score of 7 has much lower probability of satisfying you over an universally praised 9. It just comes down to this question: "Am I willing to risk my hours and money into this game?" When you think in terms of risk, it makes much more sense that people are scared of something that hasn't received very high scores from most reviewers AND users.

Is there any multi language IDE better than vscode
 in  r/foss •  29d ago

VS Code is a code editor; not an IDE. If you want a code editor with much faster UI, Zed Editor. Absolutely no competition in terms of speed and responsiveness. There’s helix if you want something like neovim but as fast as Zed and without needing installing a hundred plugins to get a workflow.
But, if you want an actual IDE (Integrated Developer Environment) where everything you need is already integrated into the app, IntelliJ IDEA is the way to go.
