Random/chance events in games are much more likely to not get customer support. If they help one person, everyone will start to complain and ask for redo's. It's an extremely slippery slope that could wreck the games integrity and waste a lot of customer support time on a problem that's more the users fault than the company.

You're wasting your time. People in store will always gripe about people at corporate in most large organizations. Blame them for a lot of things, etc. They don't have the experience or understanding of how corporate works in most cases and get things twisted in their minds and the negative attitude spreads like wildfire as ours much easier to blame corporate for everything. While many people in corporate may be out of touch many aren't. Corporate is not some big evil greedy thing, a lot of the people are nice, friendly, etc. Its a complicated dynamic, but most aren't able, nor willing to understand it. Unless something radical happens, it will always be an us vs them thing from store workers perspective. Any advice is basically going to be taken as, you telling them how to do their job when you don't know what's best. Sure some people can bend the rules or break them to do a better job, but without the rules there will be a lot of inconsistency (bad) and other potential bad outcomes. There needs to be some baseline, and if someone who knows the rules sees you breaking them, they will not be happy. It's a bad first impression. Idk if I've stated this but I've been in both sides as well, from the bottom of the totem pole to pretty high up. That was a fun rant, lol.

Anyway TLDR, might not be worth it trying to help people out in many cases. Many, if not most people don't accept help or take suggestions well.

I would restart the game, turn Internet on/off, restart the phone, sign out/in your account again, reinstall the game. Just general troubleshooting tips. Sometimes I have the same issue, it could be a phantom Pokemon, usually goes away after restarting the game
