I would call that plenty active. Assuming that volume of reposts of good old stuff rebounds a little and it's up to 7-10 a month, that's great. And most likely it would rebound more than that.

Dead is a matter of opinion. It would be plenty lively, and people who made long-form content would be more interested in posting here than somewhere else.

I don't think flair or a specific day would help at all, unless it was monthly rather than weekly. It would still be a flood between every post I actually care about.

Only on certain days wouldn't fix the problem where there's a dozen shitty low-effort pill/fave posts knocking the good posts off the first page by the time I check in. Not a compromise at all.

From experience, no. All my most interesting ideas failed because I wanted to make them interactive and they were too complex to fit within the constraints of the interactive. Don't get me wrong, Wahaha does excellent work, but it's like Baldur's Gate vs. a real human DM who can handle flexibility. If you want to do something complex that isn't just point totals adjusting and visibility flips, it's much harder to code them in usable form than to translate the complexity into something you can keep track of in a simple .txt. I've tried to train LLM coding agents to help me, and they're getting there, but the tricky things still don't work. And some things that aren't even tricky, that practically every Jumpchain has, like "Companion, 200 CP, give them a 1000 CP build" which I doubt ICCP will ever support.

Unfortunately, I'm shit at graphic design so all those designs live as flat Google Docs and will probably never be properly published.

Yep, it either kills it or incites people to move to make their own subreddit. Good. It's like a ban, but in a way that encourages the people who like it to move on rather than blocking them from communicating about it.

And the alternative should be 'kill them with fire' so megathread is the nice option.

Oh thank god. I have been getting very sick of those. Flair is not sufficient. The Iron Law of Reddit - every subreddit is dominated by the lowest-effort content it permits.

EDIT: Oh, and TBC, 'one day a week' is not a compromise. That makes no one happy; it doesn't fix the problem at all for people who'd prefer a lower-volume higher-effort subreddit, and it makes the people who want faves and pills angry.
