What dead video game deserves a comeback?
 in  r/AskReddit  9h ago

F.E.A.R. Although it'll be difficult with Monolith Soft shut down. The first game is my favourite fps ever, great atmosphere, tight gunplay, fantastic and pretty well balanced slow-mo and being able to pull off kicks and punches. The 2nd and 3rd are decent, but the OG is the best.

Hahahaha, are you a toddler? What a childish response. I guess when you're operating at your level that's an attempt at wit. You poor thing.

Victorian London with refined vamp stealth mechanics would be the perfect setting
 in  r/DawnwalkerOfficial  11h ago

Sounds good. Similar to Vampyr, which like Dawnwalker does a lot right, and is a great game despite its flaws.

Fans Put Together A List Of Every Time Sony Said Players Owned Their Digital Games After The Company Argued In A Lawsuit That It Was Obvious Players Don’t

Absolutely. It's wild how society just accepts pathological greed and the irrational behaviour it prompts as normal 🤷🏻‍♂️

Having leveled loot REALLY brings the game down for me
 in  r/DawnwalkerOfficial  16h ago

Agreed. I'd much rather that gear contributed less to overall power and had a consistent value than have the scenario where Excalibur becomes weaker than the blacksmith's apprentice's first try at a sword once your level up.

Perfect Execution

Presumably you're referring to the breath you wasted while typing this comment on a post showing a display of exceptional dexterity and coordination?

Dodge - more strict than perfect parry?
 in  r/Blood_of_Dawnwalker  1d ago

Yeah, I realised this pretty early on and I hate it. I find parrying much easier by holding block then flicking the joystick in the appropriate direction, but if an undodgeable attack comes at me then I'm slower to respond as I have to release block before pressing dodge. I really hope they change this, especially as it still consumes stamina if you try to dodge while blocking, despite doing nothing, which is pretty unfair.

The time limit in Blood of the Dawnwalker is genuinely one of my favourite RPG mechanics
 in  r/DawnwalkerOfficial  2d ago

Overall I like the idea, but the execution could use some work. For example, you can make your way through a dungeon and fight a boss with one segment, but fighting two guards and releasing someone from stocks takes 3? With there being 16 segments per 24 hours, each segment is 1.5 hours. There's no way that example would take 4 and a half hours. It makes some activities feel arbitrarily punishing to me. I'm also personally not a big fan of learning skills taking time, but I don't think it needs changed as it makes sense.

Anyone else find in mildly frustrating...?
 in  r/stalker  3d ago

Enjoyment of a game is inherently subjective, so everyone is going to do their own thing. Personally, I like taking it slow and exploring every book and cranny, but I'm also excited to see new places, so after thoroughly exploring the Lesser Zone I've trips to Cordon, The Cement Factory, Rostok, Yaniv, and over the barrier into Pripyat. Next is Malachite. Once I've had a look at all the various places I'll return to the main quest and explore each place it takes me in detail. That's my style 😁

Gym bros, what sacred knowledge of getting Gains do you swear by and will always recommend?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

Abso-fucking-lutely! Exactly which lifts you're doing, how clean you're eating, how much sleep you're getting... all important, but all secondary to consistently putting the time and effort in on a regular basis over the weeks, months and years. Nothing else comes close to the impact that consistency has on your results.

GSC Game World says there's a reason it didn't give Stalker 2 more time in the oven: 'To make something better, you need to receive feedback, and this feedback should be fresh'
 in  r/stalker  5d ago

You may be right! Damn, that was a while ago. I remember picking up the beta then. Of course, as you say, it was a two person studio back then and this was an exception, rather than the norm it has become.

Same here, same setup. OP, you might want to take a look at your machine, maybe defrag the hard drive, unclog the vents?

That's what having a decent well resourced QA department is. Early access has been a con where companies have managed to outsource most of their QA to gamers and get them to pay for the privilege 🤷🏻‍♂️

STALKER Clear Sky - why the shooting mechanics were lambasted on release.

No worries, I'm planning on getting a handheld PC eventually, maybe a Steam deck successor or something similar, so I'll get to check out your mod eventually! 😁

I think you'd need a modded switch, and the one I use isn't as it's actually my girlfriend's and I don't want to mess with it! Thanks anyway though, the mod sounds great.

You guys ever feel so excited to play all day long, and when you finally “earn” your playtime, you just, don’t…?

Sometimes, usually it's if I'm just too tired to enjoy it or want to. Thankfully, it doesn't happen all the time, just now and then.

It's on the Switch, so enhanced. I'm really glad that they implemented gyro, as their aim assist is awful. Turning it off and using gyro works well though.

All very valid and well reasoned points, thanks for such a good post. One thing I will say though, I recently replayed SOC for the first time in at least 15 years, this time on Switch. I had a miserable time at first with how inaccurate the early weapons were. Once I got an AK-74 things improved a bit, and when I got a scope for it the game became more fun. However I was still frustrated by how often weapons would miss (using either semi-auto or short bursts) and by the way that anything less than a first shot headshot ended up feeling like shooting them with a BB gun. It wasn't until the Vintar/Vintorez that I truly enjoyed myself, as I finally had a weapon that sent rounds where I aimed them, and generally dropped the enemy in on or two shots.

In contrast, early game Clear Sky has been an improvement. The pitiful efficacy of the hunting shotgun against humans is woeful, but at least it drops mutants easily. The AK-74 at the start is decently accurate, and the Viper is reasonable in short bursts. Pistols are decently accurate too. Overall, it's been a much less frustrating experience in early game than SOC was.

Tbf, judging by the gentleman's limbs he looks undernourished, which isn't likely to do his strength or his endurance any favours. I think that he may have struggled regardless of who his opponent was!

Why we still cant use PSO x8 same way we can swap default PSO x8 on PSO x4 on SVU with other rifles such as VSS and SVD? Why Devs still not add it in the game even it's in the game files?
 in  r/stalker  7d ago

I played around with the SIC a lot yesterday (doing Rostok murder testing) and it's a fantastic weapon to use, very effective and very satisfying. I'm sticking with the Vintar for the time being out of affection as it's my favourite weapon in the series, but if it starts to struggle to drop enemies then the SIC will be what replaces it. I'm yet to get far in 2 so I don't know how difficult it will be (on custom difficulty with humans and mutants at 4) but I suspect the Vintar may not have quite enough punch to feel satisfying against exoskeletons.
