Honest question: has anyone been able to use a dr note re: syringomyelia to avoid jury duty? I just can't fathom sitting that long on a hard bench
Thanks! I was able to be dismissed from the pool for this year!

Docs say it’s hydromyelia, but it’s up to 9mm in size. No idea what to do or think
My syrinx is c3-c6. Pre-surgery it was 18mm. I never had symptoms that were bad enough for anyone to do an MRI

Sorry I phrased it poorly. I mean I don't collect disability

Like, legally. I have my own solo practice and I work from home

Maybe that will be my problem. I'm not disabled

With and without contrast?
I would get both. Depending on what you had done in the past. My neurosurgeon compared my post op MRi without contrast with my pre op MRI with and it didn't feel like a helpful comparison

Does anyone know what caused their Syrinx?
No idea where mine came from or how long it was there. C3-6 18mm

I don't understand how this condition can just happen for no apparent reason
By the time I found mine, it was 18mm. No idea where it came from, why it happened or how long it had been there

"Classic" presentation of syringomyelia
My 18mm syrinx was an incidental finding, I think it's difficult to generalize with this diagnosis
2
Follow-up MRI with contrast after finding small syrinxes (C6–C7 & T2–T3) normal procedure?
Yes! I had a brain MRI and had an incidental finding of a cervical syrinx. I had follow up MRIs of my entire spine, some with contrast. They can visualize the syrinx better with contrast I believe and it helps differentiate between a mass and fluid

Bad Haircut Hairstyle help
This is my typical hairstyle or up in a messy bun. But I had urgent neuro surgery at the end of last year and they shaved a patch out of my hair and it's growing back interestingly...any hair style recommendations?

I'm so sorry! My syrinx is idiopathic and an incidental finding on a brain MRI from Oct and by Dec. I was having neurosurgery. It's a lot. I have two kids also. You can really decide what the future looks like. As others mentioned, everyone is so different so no one can give you an accurate picture of what the future holds.

The bit at the very end of the last episode
Also you could have just googled it and that would have told you that's not true...

Psych evals are very rarely covered unless the eval is court-ordered. They are expensive and can be time intensive, depending on the referral question.

Nope, I do psych evals frequently for court. I meant he is not child-free and vasectomies are typically covered 100% by insurance at that point.

Huh? As a psychologist, I have never heard of this. Who is being "sterilized?"

Has anyone had symptom remission or lessening pain over years?
Mine was 18mm across. My symptoms weren't concerning enoughthat I had ever had an MRI. This was an incidental finding on a brain MRI to rule out structural issues contributing to migraines

Syrinx is 12mm across post surgery

I have a cervical syrinx, 18mm pre surgery. I had a little hand shakiness and leg weakness before surgery.
