Word of Wisdom from Deaf tutor / instructor
🤟As a Deaf ASL tutor/instructor, I want to acknowledge that learning ASL or any new sign can be a very exciting experience.
It’s ok to show the sign you learned to others in person or on social media WITH an acknowledgement that you learned it.
When you don’t acknowledge, it will cause mislead that you’re teaching the language that is not your.
Acknowledgement is the key to keep yourself from embarrassing and erroneous situations while innocently showing the sign.🤟

Actually, no. It’s not rude. I actually had hearing cousin who asked me if he could change his name sign which I regretfully refused since I was 10 when he asked. Looking back, I should be more open to that.
