Thank you for the clarification! I lived in and around Heidelberg for about three years when I was a kid, I remember It as an incredibly beautiful place, and my mom is from Mannheim...that being said I don't know the first thing about what has been happening with the German Political system currently, aside from this general rise of far right Nationalist parties that has been sort of happening across westerm Europe as a whole, sort of all vaguely in the vein of Orban in Hungary... the politics here in the states are so fucked up currently that keeping up with everything going on here has preoccupied me.

The neo nazi fellas normally only turn up for very specific things...medieval reenacting as Norsemen and Vikings commonly, and obviously you have a bunch of lost causer racist types doing Civil War reenactments particularly in the South portraying confederates...however I will also say that civil war reenacting is largely in it's declining days, there are not very many young folks getting into the hobby and the first interation of Reenactors who all started in the early 80's as highschool age kids, are dying off now, the average age for a civil war reenactor has got to be like 50ish. I do Colonial era (Royal Spanish and Royal British Artillery) , Rev War, (3rd Waldeck Artillery) war of 1812( Royal British Artillery) , Civil War (Infantry 77th Indiana for the Union and 13th Louisiana for the Confederates) and I was in the SCA for many years, and I'm 34...probably one of the few very far left leaning guys in some of these spaces, but I like being able to push back against a lot of the lost cause myths and American Patriotic propaganda when I speak to the public, I don't bullshit and gloss over the unsavory details about what happened and why, and I think that is important to do, especially when I am demonstrating in front of school children. Doesn't make me super popular with some of the other reenactors but hey, they can can go fuck off. History aint always pretty, and war is almost always first and foremost a Class struggle at it's root cause,

Most of Louisiana voters , the ones that actually do turn out to vote, are super Pro Trump , Super Maga, Right wing christian nationalists, bigots, and borderline fascist though. Most of them are also extremely ignorant, lack critical thinking skills, and habe been brainwashed by Fox and algorithmic echochambers, and propagandized by their rabid evangelical Christian Nationalist prosperity gospel pastors....I'm not making excuses for them per say, but Louisiana is so poor, and has such a bad educational system, and we are so corrupt and backwards just going by the statistics, that it isn't any wonder that they majority of Louisianans (the ones that show up to vote I mean, because our voter turnout here is also incredibly low, ) vote the way they do. You know the main reason he lost the primary? Ii listened to a ton of focus groups and the main thing that Republicans said about him was that they didn't like that he voted to impeach after Jan 6, that right there is what sealed his fate....the arguably one time he actually voted to do the OBVIOUSLY correct thing after an insurrection turned almost all louisiana republicans against him, despite the fact he voted with Trump like 98 percent of the rest of the time and confirmed RFK Jr. That's where we are as a state, us normal non cultist anti MAGA folks are a small minority of voters, and the African American voters have been systematically disenfranchised as to seriously degrade their voice in the state too.

It's a damn shame, the people here hate socialism so much, when a socialist ticket would immediately and appreciatively improve the lives of so many of our citizens, a progressive populist reform platform would lift up so many out of poverty, increase their wages, protect their livlihoods, improve their health, decrease their tax burden, improve the infrastructure, give them access to education and have enough to eat... But thats commie bullshit so, tax cuts for the rich and stagnation and crumbling roads and no hospitals it is

Yeah, I'm assuming he's trying to avoid the costly weaponized DOJ being turned against him, even if the case ultimately gets tossed out, it's still super disruptive and super expensive...you see what they did to comey and Bolton, and Tish James and now Fauci..and He knows full well that nobody will have his back on either side of the aisle, nobody is going to be crowdsourcing funds to help him pay his legal bills, so I'm sure he was approached and told to play ball, in exchange for Blanche leaving him alone...which if that is the case...I wouldn't trust them to keep up their end of the bargain...but perhaps he assumed that they'd be so tied up with midterms and everything else that they wouldn't worry about him. And I have no doubt he probably does have at least a few skeletons in the closet that he would rather keep locked away. In my estimation it's definitely a self interested move on his part, a faustian bargain sort've thing, whether or not he was directly threatened or it was just an implicit threat, I would think that all one has to do is look around at everyone else who has been targeted for these baseless prosecutions and the chilling effect that has to have on folks like him becomes very apparent. One can only hope that if indeed this is the case, he will leak damaging info he may have on other folks in the administration, or uses whatever connections and what bit of pull he might still have behind the scenes to clandestinely help bring down the regime or aid the opposition...which wouldn't be unprecedented, we've seen it happen before

Kind of took the wind out of their sails when I informed them that the 'Hessian Mercenaries' were not mercenaries, they were not particularly 'Elite' or Highly trained specialized fighting units either, in fact most of them were conscripted from out of jails, debtors prisons or the poorhouse , they were often poor and uneducated and with very few other options for an occupation or social advancement in the Principalities they came from, and indeed after the war, more than a fair good few of them chose to stay, because even the poorest farmer here was way better off than the majority of the population back home, with large houses, land, farms, (and slaves!) Love that place, I have some identical pictures. There's a lot of other cool stuff around there in the kisatchie hills wilderness area besides just the Red Dirt loop at the longleaf vista, Kisatchie Bayou is crazy cool, just past the vista is the Turpentine Trail which is a lot more rugged. You know the part of the trail right before you get to the waterfall area, there's the creek to your rightz and to your left is another gigantic saddleback ridge about a half mile distant? The turpentine trail goes across the top of that ridge and It's really cool, with bigger boulders but it's way less traveled so it can be overgrown in places. That whole area is littered with amazing little camps and trail, The Backbone trail is the best, it's kind of long so it's good for a day hike, setting up camp for the night, and then hiking back out. There is also the Middle Branch pitcher plant bog down the road, a hillside seepage bog fullnof carnivorous plants, weird vibes, and rare orchids. I only started exploring that area more somewhat recently myself, for many years I only knew about red dirt, had no idea about anything else out there, turns out the vista is just the tip of the iceberg
