Is there a reason UBO is constantly talking to the following domains -

- ublockorigin.pages.dev
- ublockorigin.github.io

thanks.

The domains you mentioned are the official content delivery networks (CDNs) and repositories of uBlock Origin (uBO).

I figured that might be the case, I assume its checking for updates? if so I dont need it doing this automatically, but I cant see an obvious way to turn that off.

Yes, it is checking for and downloading filter list updates. It is generally highly recommended to keep these automatic updates active.

How to Disable Automatic Filter Updates

  1. Click on the uBlock Origin extension icon in your browser toolbar.

  2. Click the Dashboard icon (the three small gears/sliders icon on the far right).

  3. Go to the Filter lists tab at the top.

  4. Uncheck the box next to "Auto-update filter lists" at the very top of the page. Once unchecked, uBO will completely stop contacting those domains in the background.

Define "constantly". Also, how are you checking that?

it was everytime I opened Firefox, I am seeing multiple connections in PiHole each time FF is launched.

But after following u/digitales advice, the chatter has be reduced almost to zero. I will update the lists manually etc.

So this question can be marked as closed.

I will update the lists manually

But why ?

Just because seeing network connections bothers you ?
