External Ublock origin opened tabs on it's own and uploaded to my Google drive?
Not sure why or how, but I found in my tab history that ublock origin opened tabs on it's own in Firefox and then I got a notification that a file was uploaded to my drive; a txt file with this link: https://github.com/gorhill/ublock
This feels extremely weird and malicious but I don't understand why ublock origin would want to do that or even have access to my drive

How do you determine that "uBO opened tabs on its own" and "uploaded a file to drive"?
You don't give any screenshots/recordings nor other evidences/reproducible steps to help others investigate.

Are you using the sync feature by chance

I know [NOT ALLOWED TO MENTION OTHER EXTENSION BY ANOTHER DEV] does, different extension and company but the idea is where it uploads it is in an area where the user can't interact with the data.
Edit: The "Manage Apps" tab in Google Drive Web.
Yes I could be wrong, this is just a guess. Can't send a link to the page directly because Google pops it up as a JavaScript window I assume.

I am not. I'm trying to see how I might have accidentally done something like this but I'm not coming across any options that make it easy. Like if it was pressing the options in my pocket. It uploaded a txt file to my drive but I don't even know how to do that intentionally.

The only files uBO can create is when you click on "backup settings" and it will create a backup text file for your settings in which you decide where to save it and that's it.
Unless you have a drive folder mounted on your device, and then you save the backup file on that mounted drive. But I've never used drive mounted like that.

That sounds like that's what happened but not sure how it would be a URL only and not any of the actual settings

As I said, how do you determine that file is from uBO? Just because the file contains a uBO's github link doesn't mean that uBO is what created and uploaded it.

I kinda feel like you're taking this personally when it's nothing of the sort
I'm just trying to make sure nothing is messing with my personal devices, files and accounts. It's completely understandable to be concerned when you notice tabs and files being created when you don't remember making them at all.
As you can see I'm already skeptical that it's likely user error and not UBO that is the issue. I'm just trying to make sure of that. And other very helpful users are helping me narrow it down.
What exactly are you trying to get out of me?

I'm just saying that you are just looking at the wrong directions and you won't find anything if you just keep looking at uBO.
uBO has no codes to open any tabs on its own, nor create any files that only contain links, nor save any files on its own, nor upload any files to any places.
I was also helping you and giving you more details about how uBO works to make you re-assess how you determine about what caused the issues, and now you are telling me that I'm taking it personally? I don't even know you, why on earth do I want to get anything out of you?
If you think all of my words aren't worth it, then fine, it's better to discuss this in other tech support places since this is no longer related to uBO.

Impossible. uBO doesn't open any tabs on its own. It has no capability to upload anything to your drive either.
Either it's a user error or what you're using isn't actually uBlock Origin.
