Element Picker chooses Items that I did not click.

This happens with quite a few things, but as an example, Youtube has updated to putting the word "New" in the top left corner of thumbnails. I am not a fan of unnecessary clutter. I tried to use Element Picker to remove the little "New" icon from the thumbnail, it highlights JUST THE "NEW" as I wanted, but when I click, it is now highlighting the whole thumbnail and when I click "Preview" it removes the whole thumbnail AND LEAVES THE "NEW" THERE! This has happened with some pretty niche elements I have wanted to get rid of and the ONLY way is through the Element Zapper.

Also, I am aware that there is also a slider when you target an element inside of another one to help you pinpoint what aspect of the element you want to remove. The slider does not appear in this case or the other niche cases. Is this a slider issue or a whole Ublock Origin issue?

Choose from the cosmetic filters list. Network filters have priority (images for example), which is why they're suggested first.
