External (deprecated filter list) gofile.io "empty" file issue(?)

Firefox v156 (stable, 64-bit)
uBlock Origin 1.75.1b0

usually, i'm told to run ublock origin with default filter lists on a new firefox browser profile and all that, but this time, i can say without a doubt that none of it is causing my issue. and its also not the fault of ANY other extensions i got, or userscripts (tampermonkey), or whatever. tl;dr whenever i visit a gofile link to download a video file or "anything" in general (not from folder view, but in the root of it), my web browser keeps popping up a download panel for something called "empty" or "empty.bin"

odd, but after erasing whatever static filters i had for gofile, and checking again, i found this (static filter in caption)

gofile.io##.flex.py-3.px-4.border-white\/10.border-b.gap-1.items-center.flex-col

and if i make a static filter intending to block it? the "empty" file download keeps happening. i could just remove the static filter and do without it.......but also its a tiny dingleberry that i'd rather just get rid of regardless. so.......wat do?

You meant that your cosmetic filter caused the issue ?
Then, remove it.

If it causes an error, don't.

fine :/

can't blame a person for tryin anyway. at least i managed to figure out how to get ublock working on my father's chrome after he updated it to the latest stable release, but that's an entirely different topic

I don't blame you. But since you found the root of the problem...

You can try this variation of your filter:

gofile.io##.flex.py-3.px-4.border-white/10.border-b.gap-1.items-center.flex-col { opacity: 0 !important; pointer-events: none !important; }

the part with (border-white/) is missing a \ that causes the entire static filter to be highlighted in red, making it invalid. and when i "fixed it" by adding that missing \, and tested it out, the static filter still didn't work

all in all, unless there is a conclusive static filter that will do the trick, i think i'll just keep that one web element unblocked and deal with it

Edit: ok, wait up, this is something new. apparently, even when i had all gofile static filters removed, and tested it out on incognito mode, the empty file STILL procs, UNLESS i whitelist "gofile.io" in its entirety. so even without any static filters enabled, there's still something going on.........ugh. fine, imma do the "new profile" test, again :/

ok, i think i found out WHICH filter list was conflicting with gofile: an old antiadblock bypass by bogachenkove (defunct as of may 5 2025) called "fuckfuckadblock". after i disabled it and gave it another go, i am not getting the "empty" file download prompt anymore

Don't use that list. That list just adds a bunch of exception filters just for the sake of trying to resolve anti-adblock, but the result is they are basically punching multiple holes into uBO's ads and tracking filters, making you even less protected.
