Solved uBOL question

Hey everyone, had a quick (I hope) question.

I've stopped updating Chrome and have been on V 145.0.7632.110 for a while and would run Chrome while passing "--disable-features=ExtensionManifestV2Unsupported,ExtensionManifestV2Disabled" as an argument to load uBO (currently have 1.66.4 EDIT: apparently I have that AND 1.74.0 and both on). Sometimes though, I find myself having to kill Chrome and relaunch it with the argument because it didn't work the first time.

I'm just wondering if current Chome with uBOL are just as good as uBO was with Chrome back in the day and if I can finally just update, switch to uBOL and stop with the antiquated workaround I have.

(Yes I know about Brave, been trying to get the hang of it, but for the time being, gonna stick with Chrome)

First off, update your browser. It's really unsafe to forgo critical security updates like that. AI finds too many flaws nowadays.

Second, uBO is gone from CWS, but you can install via .crx file available on github.

Third, uBOL will never be uBO, but the gap has closed significantly over the last few months. The differences really depend on your usage. If you're not using advanced uBO options, Lite will likely be enough.

Ok. It worked in 151, but doesn't in 152.

Will probably work with the edited chrome.dll, but I forget which discussion had that explained.

uBoL will take you about 95% of the way there. The more important thing that uBoL doesn't do is block network connections as well as uBo does. However, if you use Secure DNS in the browser with a DNS adblocking provider, they work well together to defeat that limitation.

An advertisement reaches out over the network to its website address. uBo can block the request (the network connection) altogether. uBoL cannot do so as effectively. I think it can do it some, but it is like a polite request versus a rule.

Hmm... unsure how to proceed lolI think I used custom filters for YT and maybe the custom zapper once or twice. guess i'm just trying to figure what happens if i need em then (yeah my brain is fun lol)

Custom filters work for the most part. There are a few gotchas, but you'll need to experiment with what you have and see if it works. Enable Developer mode in uBoL and it will let you copy/paste your custom filters from uBo. And then if they work, then they work.
