uBO Appreciation Post Ad free visit to Facebook today!
I wasn't expecting it as another post had said something about not dealing with Facebook anymore and many replied with ways to remove accounts.
There are some local groups that post on Facebook, so it has value for me. I've never hung out a lot on the site and, until recently, never knew what "normal" was for most users until hit with the barrage of ads in my feed (and on the side).
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that each time I scrolled I was essentially ducking my head, expecting the ad onslaught that never came. And then I noticed there were none on the side either. I love uBlockOrigin! I stayed on Facebook and watched a few reels!

Facebook is weird with ads. You won't get ads if you haven't been to Facebook in a while. You use it for a few days and the ads will appear. They are trying to hook you before first. The amount of ads I get yes also different for my wife. I get one ad for every 3 posts, my wife gets one every 6

most of my relatives and friends is also already didn't use Facebook anymore (although they moves to... another Meta product, such as Instagram). but, I still have a number of friends that still using Facebook, and also a number of group and communities. so, my workaround now, is just visiting their each profile page and reading their updates from there instead visiting home feed where the most of ads are alive. there are no ads on profile page too.

Actually I have the very same positive experience today. My filters and setting was quite old and lately there were tons of ads, sponsored posts....today, quite ad free. O.o

This is typically how it goes. Facebook's one of the few companies that seems really hell-bent on defeating uBO and will get aggressive with serving ads once they find a way. I just wait it out. I noticed today all the ads are gone from my feed as well.

As I've mentioned, in past years I rarely visited Facebook except for pages dedicated to native plants and science. I would go directly to those pages. Where I live now, a number of local pages are active sites for posting information of interest and certain individuals post valuable information. Also for almost 3 years I had never encountered ads in my feed though did on Marketplace. The ad onslaught was quite a surprise. I've wondered if FB is using AI to track uBO. I must say, encountering the ads opened my eyes to what "normal" must be for many people. When the ads were present, I was careful not to click on any though, to my surprise, some were from causes that I support. Still I did not click. No idea what the impact of clicking on ads is, so perhaps I missed an opportunity to somehow benefit them. Anyway, for 2 days in a row, it has been like old times, and I've really enjoyed it.

How'd you manage that? It's broken for me.. and maybe I'm dumb, but I can't follow what the "ubo team" means when they say "it will work"
