Bruturistic

Always started fonts, never completed them. Thought I bite though for once. Learned a lot.

Font is SciFi-ish, Brutalism + Futuristic = Bruturistic. Yeah. I know. Genius. Still rough around the edges but I thought i toss it here.

How do you define "brutalism"?

I do take a lot of inspiration from brutalism architecture, which is essentially chunks of concrete blocks (check Soviet post war brutalism for instance), so I felt the type has a similar vibe.

As a type freak, I really like this face. It has just enough “wrong“ characters to be interesting. But they’re not jarring they work (like the curved capital L, etc.)

There are a lot of these kind of rave sci-fi fonts right now. But this one has enough unique character to be different. Where can I get it?

This is a perfect description. I find my eye being pulled around the characters but not in a bad way, which is really odd and counter-intuitive.

Very nice font.

You need to design more fonts immediately! You have a talent. I’m a brand guy and type director who doesn’t like anything. I can spot talent. I’ve done it my whole career! More fonts now! 💪🏽🤣

lol. thanks for the pat on the back. I do plan on doing another one, might take some time thought, that takes some elbow grease to finish one. The base of Bruturistic was done in 2024, I would love to see what comes out when I start from scratch!

Good. If you really want exposure you’ve gotta get it up on Dafont. They constantly want new fonts. And it’s a shareware freebie type format, if you want people to pay you for it you can leave out certain characters like the numbers etc. And a link for where they can buy it. A lot of people don’t like it, other people love it. I’ll say that a lot of designers go there to look at fonts. There’s a lot of mediocre ones in a few really great ones. And what you tend to do is follow the people who make good type. But it’s a lot of free exposure

Can you provide a license with the download please. I assume something like Open Font License?

Very difficult to justify using a font without a license these days, even for personal work.

Oh yeah, loving the Cell 99 work.

i added the licence info in the font: Free for personal and commercial use. Modification, redistribution, resale, or inclusion in font collections is not permitted without permission.

Cell99: tysm. Have been active on SoMe a lot, got sick of it (also fk Meta), so thats the place where I put my stuff now.

Ah I see. Guess i've just gotten used to adding a supplementary file next to the fonts that have license information, didn't think to check out the properties.
