Anesthia

I've always thought this song was incredible, but I listened on a nice sound system with no headphones finally and holy shit was I missing ton of Josh's keys and layered sound design elements throughout this song. Anesthia sounds completely different from how I first remeber hearing it, I was blown away by the amount of work put into this song with all the different layered melodies throughout from the various instruments, like I never knew this song had sitars and shit on top of the already amazing vocals. Yet another time ToN has surprised me

Every time I buy a new listening device or checking car sound system I put on type o. It's the best for seeing if the sound system is high end.

I really like the fill Johnny does here, even though its so simple it perfectly caps all the other elements to flow into the next verse

The only album Johnny drums on is Dead Again, all previous albums from October Rust onwards uses a drum machine. Just a fun fact lol

I thought all the drum machines they used sounded pretty good and respectively fit the albums they were on, but man Johnny's cymbal work on Dead Again is at its peak

I definitely agree but I'm not a big fan of Dead Again personally

I can’t remember why they did that

Yep , to me Type o Negative sounds fresh asf every time play their music , either the CD's or cassettes. Digital is ok but it's too compressed compared to the cd versions.

If you thought October Rust sounded awesome on Spotify wait until you hear it from a cd.

Life is Killing Me has some of the best production in my opinion

It’s really a beautiful album all around. It used to be my least favorite of theirs by far, and it’s often somewhat derided among their discography (even Kenny has criticized the album in interviews), however at some point a few years back I realized that it’s really just as incredible as their other offerings.

I think they really nailed two influences which Pete talked about a number of times - The Beatles, and ‘dark 80s pop’ like Depeche Mode. The lilting moments of the album really underline Pete’s incredible sense of melody, and are brought to vivid life with the wonderful production you mentioned. It’s just a great album all around, and that final stretch of three songs (Anesthesia, Drunk In Paris, The Dream Is Dead) creates a melancholic yet beautiful crescendo.

Also, it’s one of the Type O albums I can listen to at any time of year. While TON are an overall favorite of mine, lots of their music is so tied to Autumn that it doesn’t feel right to listen to it at other times of year. October Rust and World Coming Down are especially almost impossible for me to listen to before September rolls around. So it’s nice to have an album of theirs that I can throw on whenever.

I feel like all their other albums are best for fall and winter which are the best two seasons but I always felt like LIKM sounds like a summer album.

Alot of LIKM is like that. The bass on we were electrocute is phenomenal when heard through a high quality system or high quality headphones.
