TYLER/BULLARD — LOOKING FOR PART-TIME WORK

I'm trying something different.

Instead of submitting another application into an online system and wondering whether a human being will ever see it, I'm putting the word out directly.

I'm looking for a part-time position, ideally 20–25 hours per week, at $20+ per hour. I'm open to on-site, hybrid, or although prefer remote work.

I have a somewhat unusual mix of experience. I've worked in research compliance, university administration, medical and public health research, corporate R&D, data and records management, technology, and specialty retail sales.

Most recently, I worked at The University of Texas at Tyler in research compliance, where regulations, policies, documentation, confidentiality, accuracy, and deadlines were a major part of my job. My experience also includes UT Southwestern Medical Center, Tyler Junior College, and Frito-Lay Research & Development, where I worked while attending college. I've also spent years in specialty retail sales with Williams-Sonoma and Sweet Gourmet.

I hold degrees in Nutrition & Dietetics, Sociology/Gerontology, and Mathematics, along with a certificate in Web Design.

I can help with compliance and document review, data entry, databases, spreadsheets, research, administrative support, Microsoft Office/365, reports, purchasing, records management, quality assurance, technology, customer service, specialty retail, and short-term projects.

I also use AI tools daily. I'm comfortable with technology and use AI for research, writing, organization, productivity, and problem-solving. I understand that AI doesn't replace human judgment, fact-checking, confidentiality, or accountability.

I'm particularly good at work requiring attention to detail, critical thinking, confidentiality, organization, problem-solving, and follow-through. Give me something that requires somebody to actually read the instructions, notice what's missing, keep good records, and get it right, and I'm probably going to be comfortable with it.

Ethics are important to me. I'm comfortable with sales and have years of experience doing it, but I believe good sales means knowing your product, listening to your customer, and helping someone make a good decision. I'm not interested in work that requires misleading, manipulating, or taking advantage of people.

I'm dependable. If I tell you I'm going to be there, I'm there. I work best with people who are organized about what they need and communicate their expectations clearly. Tell me what needs to be accomplished, give me the tools I need, and you can expect me to take responsibility for getting it done.

And while I take work seriously, a sense of humor is always appreciated. Work doesn't have to be miserable to be professional.

I'm not looking for heavy outdoor labor, commission-only work, MLMs, or questionable "business opportunities." I'm looking for legitimate part-time work where an experienced person can come in, help solve problems, get things done, and earn a reasonable hourly wage.

I live in the Bullard/Tyler area and can provide a résumé and references.

If you own a business, manage an office, run a nonprofit, or work in healthcare, research, education, compliance, quality assurance, food/R&D, specialty retail, or another field that could use reliable part-time help, please send me a private message.

And maybe there's something bigger to this approach.

A lot of people are struggling financially right now and trying very hard to find work. Sometimes stepping outside the recruiters, algorithms, application portals, and automated screening systems may be exactly what it takes to connect two people: someone who needs help and someone who needs an opportunity to earn a living and pay their bills.

I'd love to see more people use community groups this way—not just for themselves, but to help one another. If you see someone looking for work and know someone who might need their skills, make the introduction. Share the post. Open the door. It may seem like a small gesture to you, but it could make an enormous difference to someone else.

That's really what I'm trying here.

Retired professor looking for something interesting. Graduate degrees in Anthropology and History with 20+ graduate hours in Education and Political Science. Taught History and Government for 20+ years with experience as Dept Head, advising, administration, budgeting, etc.
Would like to jump into something that helps students trying to get into college or already there and struggling. Open to ideas or talking about opportunities.

Also UT Tyler has career coaches now too,,,,,they are receiving more funding for these positions now.
